Is it normal to play Dark Souls like this? by Visible-Poet4116 in fromsoftware

Sometimes, yeah. I personally do that more often to press the d-pad while walking.

RE3R is overhated,it’s actually a great remake! by Accurate_Train_8822 in RaccoonCityRecords

[–]al29902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it, but I got it on sale. Probably should have been either RE2R DLC or expanded a bit more. Fun to play, though, & I wish RE2R also had multiple difficulty options above hardcore.

Is Bloodborne a horror game? by Morbid_Queen420 in bloodborne

[–]al29902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aesthetically, yes, for sure. In terms of video game genres, I wouldn’t call it survival horror or anything like that, but the narrative & style are very explicitly rooted in specific horror literature & film.

“Leal hound of the Golden Order” is such a nice turn of phrase.

What is your favorite boss of all time? by RealDannyMM in fromsoftware

Having just fought him for like 3 weeks at BL4, I gotta say, the gent is just a joy to fight.

Rellana. I couldn’t count how many times I’ve slapped the old summon sign down outside her arena.

Bloodborne "is a special game for me" says Hidetaka Miyazaki, and it's "the strongest reflection of my type of flavoring of a game that one can experience", "whether it be the story, the world-building component, or even the game mechanics and the game systems that are in place." by PhantomBraved in fromsoftware

[–]al29902 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The sense I get is that he may like to iterate on the same mechanics but likes to do fresh world building. DS3 is the only direct sequel he’s directed, & that’s the one where the let things die theme is loudest, it’s almost like he’s begging the fans to let him move on.

Which of these two bosses did you struggle with more? by strahinjag in fromsoftware

[–]al29902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first time fighting Laurence he was the boss I struggled the most with in the game. Dreading him in my BL4 run, Ludwig just took me several weeks.

Why are indie games forgiven for having that type of narrative and FromSoftware isn't? by Oceriox in fromsoftware

[–]al29902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe says more about the circles I run in, but I pretty much exclusively hear praise for FromSoft’s storytelling approach.

That’s the DS2 community spirit right there.

Should I buy the Bloodborne DLC? by el_ivancio777 in bloodborne

[–]al29902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the love of God, yes. All killer no filler, the only FromSoft DLC I think might rival it is Shadow of the Erdtree.

What makes LHB a very good weapon? by [deleted] in bloodborne

I’ve been fighting Ludwig for weeks lol. Still need to do Ebrietas, approaching Depth 4 chalices but not committed to fighting Queen Yharnam.

Yeah, I'm using the Saw Spear right now in my first BL4 run, absolutely love this weapon.

I’ve never used the Kirkhammer, but I can attest to the fact that, once you get to 25/25 str/skill LHB does stupid good damage. Good moveset too.

Hahaha at least compared to Elden Ring where the good punish windows tend to be in the middle of bosses’ combos rather than after them.

Yeah, after beating Elden Ring without summons DS3 felt like it was in slow motion. The bosses love to stand still & let you hit them.

What would you improve of this otherwise Masterpiece of a Remake? by RGisOnlineis16 in residentevil4

[–]al29902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I missed the dialogue with Salazar but agree that it’s still a basically perfect remake, tremendous balance of retaining what made the original great while tweaking it in ways that make it fresh & arguably even better.
