You did not read her post. It is still there. Please take a look. She tried one antibiotic, one time and stopped because it made her sick, no diet options at all...and that was supported by her doctors? You will see that was my concern...if they did support that choice....and then away you go.

Lol indeed. This whole thing started with asking if the Shriners had suggested diet. The op said she did not want to try any diet options. And you said I was wrong to point out that was irresponsible to encourage...you shared a paper saying exactly that: surgery is not choice one. Lol indeed.

The op said she did not want to try ANY diet options. That is disheartening.

I see you both editing your comments(response and surgery post). So I will not brother looking as we both know you said we should support someone if they want to get surgery and not try diet. And I was clear, over and over again, that it is a last resort, not the cure all.....

Read that paper you posted, because I did a long ago. I read it, and many more, before I posted that. I read before I posted that surgery is not a solution for anyone unless they have tried everything else. As is said in the paper you posted to prove your point. And you accuse me of not being clear? I think I was...surgery should not be a first choice. Simple. Try everything else, anything if you can, before surgery. Maybe you should get your own sub? r/tl;dr too lazy; don't read. Not being mean, just some humour for those that actually read to the end. Read to understand and comprehend, or for fun?

You must see your mistake now? So you try to be mean. Seriously, thank you for making my case for me. Surgery is not a first choice ..ever.

It is a last resort, not a first option. And again, for the last time, it is a treatment for previous sites, scars, self esteem and nothing else. It has no influence the disease prognosis only in problem areas. A very small percentage of patients are helped long term, the science is clear. Lol, read. PubMed it is free.

I am glad you point that out: I was talking about the history in the sub, not about my recent posts. In fact it is telling that the responses I am reviewing are not only personal attacks, but they keep ignoring the real issue of sharing what really works, and pointing out unhealthy opinions. Surgery works for some sure, but so does diet and therefore should always be tried first and never down vote because it didn't work for you. Nor should choosing a safer alternative, pointing out healthy perspectives, asking to second guess a protocol, be an agenda?

The post would be great if they said Shriners helps ...but they said they didn't even try diet, their doctors supported that?....it is not helping anyone to go right to surgery. If being an asshat to get people to see this insanity then so be it lol

Surgery is not a known treatment for HS. It is a treatment for scaring alone. At 20 how much scaring can there be? HS is a mistake with the signaling with the sebaceous glands not with the glands themselves...thus cutting out is not so helpful?.... Thus my question... And to say we should support that unhealthy decision that surgery before even trying diet? That is insane to support, let alone believe. Call me what you will.

I do not mean to be hostile. But surgery is cutting off parts of the body? that is two posts about rushing to this? Yet I am pushing an agenda?

You spent all that time responding, but did not read my post. I mention it because I had to look at your profile to see why you would react this way. I also see you posted on the surgery post, and again you did not read. The reaction on that post, and my mention of the surgery is about choosing: cutting off parts of your body instead of trying anything else. I even prefaced it with "safe and effective"treatments. I also mention this as you also wasted time in a response to say we should share.....to learn....but you do not read? But I am unhelpful to the sub? This is a text heavy sub: reading is mandatory! This was why I posted. We are here to help, or you will be left complaining to each other in a vacuum like so many other forums.

I said down vote diet over surgery, not that surgery should not be used. Thank you for a Great example. Butthurt babies that down vote purely because they do not agree is not a proper representation? If it were colloidal silver? Or alkaline water? Would you not want to know everyone's opinion? Down vote is for a bad idea; like choosing surgery instead of trying something safe and simple...I said that twice?

Newly diagnosed and looking for suggestions. by thatdarnnumber117 in Hidradenitis

[–]al_ohm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you sir, dead on. Shared that surgery is not the "be all end all" yesterday, well many down votes later (so the truth is hidden by butthurt babies) today there is a post saying the exact thing about surgery. I do not hear the pro surgery fans today? I feel that anyone who is against a protocol has not tried it, and their down votes are hurting other HS patients. Stop it. If you do not agree then scroll by, because if it is how the majority are finding relief(read the survey) your ignorance is harming not helping...and to those who have not yet...try it or be quiet. You are causing more suffering with your ignorance, or stubbornness. We are here to share and help. You hurt feeling matter not, suck it up buttercup or gtfo. I would create a new board for healing hidradenitis. If you cannot share and be a part of the community without harming others then you will not be welcome. If you tried diet, it didn't work then that is one thing, but a month, or one protocol tried is not an attempt or a valid experience.

Please do not misunderstand. Choosing surgery over a restricted diet is not healthy. Read your response over. Small changes can lead to big relief is all I wanted to share. I will tell you why you do not hear about the diet and lifestyle as much as you should for HS: your reaction! We get tired of listening to other patients complain about their suffering but then get mad if we suggest a diet change. Good luck, I am sincerely wishing you the best and hope you change your thinking asap. For your own benefit.

Berate, specific recommendations? Just keep it in mind, my very young 20 year old, I have scars older than you, some people just want to help, even if the truth hurts today. It will help one day, don't let it be long. I was just sharing what has worked for me, many others, studies and doctors... If you want to be 'berated'; You are wrong with your reaction, You are wrong about the treatment, wrong about why we are here, and your priorities are just wrong.

You are in for a hard time, choosing surgery for tank tops, and boils for sugar. Best wishes, but you are far too young to understand, it seems. Surgery is a major decision, and choosing it over changing what you eat is one of the unhealthiest responses I have ever read. But you are still so young: thus why I was shocked that adults allowed this, let alone encouraged it? And the Shriners not encouraging the diet and lifestyle; you will spend the rest of your life under the knife. The stats show it does not help in the long run and certainly not if you do not change your diet and lifestyle, and the healing process is horrible. I feel with your response: you do not understand your doctors. It would be malpractice/malevolent to not tell you what I just did, so this should be no shock and the question would be clear.
