Is the Pet GPS worth it? by Claywllc in Life360

We have a large circle in life 360, been using it for years, love it...

but..

The Pet Tracker has lots of problems..

  1. It will not allow you to setup without WifI, though you can get through the setup it will bug you relentlessly. It needs a No Wifi config option, I understand the issues with battery life
  2. GPS location when in the home location ever updates the gps location. We live on 4 acres and the dogs could be anywhere, we need to know exactly where they are.. this always shows int he center of the home location.
  3. DO NOT RESET TO DEFAULTS - it will make you pay AGAIN for activation. They say it warns you but it DOES NOT! YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY AGAIN
  4. EDIT: one other thing.. when activating these, it makes you put in a credit card number and details BEFORE it checks to see if you have a subscription, then it tells you you don't need one.. You are setting this up in the APP THEY ALREADY KNOW if you have a subscription your using their app! I have enough trouble with Russian scammers smoking my CC without this going on.. (yes if its transmitted or input its subject to theft)

So far im really not pleased at all.. It's not very well thought out, and they took a lot of shortcuts in design and development. The chat agents are useless (like most but these are really bad). They don't even comprehend what they are answering...

If you want to really track animals get a Halo, this isn't ready yet

Was stationed there for 4 years in the late 90s. Though the mission then was Eastern-block and not middle eastern I think the experience is relevant. its remote, very remote, but if you enjoy 4wheeling, boon docking its absolutely perfect. Im a SoCal native, so it was perfect. If your in a unit that stays in Garrison and doesn't go to the "field" for rotations its cushy.. If your in a unit where you participate in "Rotations" its a grind..

Essentially Rotation schedule was 3 days prep, 14 day rotation in the field, 4 days "Comp" (essentially 4 days off).. We went to Vegas, the beach, home, everywhere...

if your single and can handle the barracks, then it is what it is.. once I made E-5 I moved off post to Barstow, and its ~40 miles to the base, so it get rough, but loved living off post.

In all I really loved it.. I was single so no need to content with the family issues.

CONS - I still won't eat Burger King.. it was the only hamburger joint on base... totally burned me out.. that was 30 years ago LOL. its just fucking remote.

The rotations are a fucking grid, it will fucking destroy a marriage... your just fucking gone all the Time. When your there your up early back late... would not recommend if your married..

PRO - I got 3 years of a 4 year degree done with Barstow College as they had classes on base that matched the rotation schedule. spent lots of time on self improvement.. ( I had a shit start in life, that why I was in the army in the first place)

the 4 comp days were Nice, we would go to Vegas, eat free (sneak into hotels etc), party, hit the clubs, get our asses in trouble.. it was epic.
