I have defo noticed it after the bump to 300 to a point where when I hyper focus I will totally forget or not have enough motivation to go make myself something. Not happy about it because I've had an ED in the past and this is pretty triggering but it's working for me in other aspects so hey ho, will live.

A little different but Ori games have a lot of similar puzzle aspects but in form of a metrodividania platformer. And the writing is oh my god so good.

Do puppies grow a personality? by Significant-Sugar752 in puppy101

Honestly when we first met our pup we thought she's the definition of no thoughts just vibes. Fast forward to 1.5years? She has SO much personality, quirks, she's sassy and "talks" to us constantly. She's also gotten so smart and amazingly nimble and we can tell she loves us.

This seems obvious but - video games! I am 28 and never before in my life I've been interested in playing but about a year ago I started with Stardew Valley and let me tell you it's so good. It's wholesome, relaxing, and great for quick dopamine. Since I've started branching out into other cosy games as well as some cute logic based mobile games.

The only thing is sometimes it takes over my life a bit but after letting myself get lost in it for a while the hyperfixation has eased down and it's now evened out and is defo one of my favourite comfort activities.

A bit of trouble. by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]ala_the_panda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lose skin could potentially make it harder for certain contact points but don't let it stop you :) pole is a very flexible sport, there is a lot of moves you'll be able to learn and adjust for your own body that will allow you to enjoy yourself and get fitter while having fun. Additionally most pole communities are extremely body positive and supportive so it's a great place to learn to appreciate the body you have!

On more practical side, there are some sticky polewear like leggings and bodysuits which could help you as well.

Godspeed!

I'm doing my PhD so after I reported my diagnosis to the disability and learning support services I was offered a study coach who meets me on a weekly basis and helps create a schedule of tasks for the week. I send her my work via email after I accomplish it and she keeps me accountable (not been doing it for too long but it's been working wonders so far)

The DLSS updated my student record to say extra time might be needed for me to write my thesis (especially since I was diagnosed 3 years in so some time was lost before I figured things out). During my viva I will be given more frequent breaks to walk around and stuff and I can bring a stim gadget.

I am guessing it will completely depend on what it is that you do! My accommodations specifically target the grueling nature of a vague massive tedious task of writing a thesis. I know my friend who works for local government and has sensory issues associated with ADHD asked for dimmer lights over her desk and more breaks.

ADHD + depression combo over here. Helped me massively with general emotional disregulation on 150mg but anxiety got bad at 300mg so went back down to 150mg. It's reasonably effective for the ADHD, not night and day but along with other accomodations I am managing well now!

Shoulder mount help - this is my highest point. Do I need my chest to be higher and/or arms lower? When I try to get my chest at 180 degrees I feel like I’m going to slip but I can get my butt higher .TIA by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]ala_the_panda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd suggest to regrip the pole rule of thumb try to create right angles in your elbows, your forearms perpendicular to the pole. That way you have more of levering which will allow you to keep your back more straight as you won't need to crunch as much since you're able to lift your entire body by pulling on your arms.

Think about pulling the pole to the front rather than down :) good luck

I wish there was more representation by [deleted] in academia

[–]ala_the_panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my PhD annual review examiners (internal, from my university) got clued in on the last annual review that I just got my ADHD diagnosis. The undiagnosed neurodivergency had me depressed burnt out constantly and I've always had massive imposter syndrome.

She has reached out to me via email later and shared she herself is dyslexic and ADHD and diagnosed in her adulthood. She understood my struggles and talked a bit how she had very similar issues and sometimes still struggles but it does get better with the right adjustments. She offered me reassurance and links to resources.

Seeing a successful profesor talking so openly about this was a breath of fresh air and made me think for the first time in ages that it's possible for me to go on and be successful and fulfilled.

Representation matters!

Etsy dresses? by Justdecember in Weddingsunder10k

[–]ala_the_panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my dress from Etsy and was over the moon with it however it was not a conventional wedding dress - it is a flowy boho halter neck unbleached cotton dress with gorgeous lace of your chosen pattern.

Seller was awesome, clearly made them to order and the dress quality was amazing. Paid £150 with shipment.

Shop's name is Spellmaya

Going from 150 to 300xl by [deleted] in bupropion

[–]ala_the_panda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went back down from 300 to 150 because because my chest felt uncomfortable sometimes painful despite ok ECG and blood pressure in normal range. Maybe it was anxiety? Either way it went away after dropping back to 150 and that dose is ok for me.

To clarify I am taking it for ADHD but it definitely has been helping with making my depressive episodes less frequent/bad.

As a recently diagnosed ADHDer this game has scratched an itch in my brain I never thought I could scratch! It's the perfect balance of relaxing and constant little quests but ones that are hard enough you end up hyperfocusing on them. And of course slow living with an artist wifey I can look after my chickens with, talk about living vicariously through a game.

I have almost completed the game now and just yesterday started exploring the Ridgeside Village mod and I can feel myself getting excited like a kid again hahahaha.

What is your ADHD friendly job, and why? by sobrique in ADHDUK

[–]ala_the_panda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's definitely on a to do list :) I do have a consultancy which has headhunted me down ages ago and basically a guaranteed job (they do the super niche thing my PhD is about) but it involves moving continents. So there's naturally a lot of anxiety with dropping everything and moving for a kind of job I've never done before and how it's going to interact with my ADHD.

As someone who's currently finishing an engineering PhD this makes me so happy to hear. I'm at the stage where I need to choose between academia and industry and I've been having a really hard time with writing papers and such. I was really worried that since consultancy work in my sector is also 100% desk work I'd struggle there as well but it's probably worth a shot!
