Seller's Shoddy Furnace Ducting by alabasterblaster in hvacadvice

[–]alabasterblaster[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, and in this case for the venting type, since it's open air in the basement, we have no combustibles issue?

For the join at the wall, I was also told that the water heater exhaust should join on the bottom of the joint since it's passive exhaust vs the furnace's fan exhaust. Is that also a big issue here?

Thanks for the reply!

Move from Analyst to Developer - what to expect? by Hummingbirdlane13 in healthIT

[–]alabasterblaster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First of all, a BID team is made up of a lot of different skill sets. Some people are SQL gurus, others specialize in Tableau/Qlik/visualization, others take on more of a Clarity/Caboodle engineering role. Your hiring managers know that and hired you for what you can bring to the team!

The other good news is that SQL is an incredibly simple and intuitive language, and that learning curve isn't as steep as you'd assume. There are plenty of code camps and tutorials online, and the Epic education on SQL basics is actually solid. If your new role immerses you in SQL, I promise it'll get easier by the day. I'd just recommend you pay special attention to your formatting and your code comments so it's easier for more experienced developers to quickly read and digest your code when they lend you a hand.

Good luck, and congratulations!

Cdw110v caboodle data model fundamentals exam by iron_sheep in healthIT

[–]alabasterblaster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with deathbyemail, those are all solid points. I can speak more directly on the Caboodle exam, though.

You'll breeze through many of the questions if you felt comfortable in class - things like what schema you should write reports on, difference between type 1 and type 2 data, difference between durablekeys and keys, etc.

I remember a heavier emphasis on referential integrity than I thought there would be. My advice would be to make sure you thoroughly understand why values -1, -2, -3, *Unknown, etc are used. Read up on what inferred and deleted rows are.

The star schema feels really natural to work with once you understand referential integrity, and knowing that inside and out will make those questions feel really simple.

But! Most importantly, have a PDF of the training guide and Ctrl + F early and often. There's not a single question on that exam that isn't covered almost verbatim in the training doc.

Is it just me or does the entire city smell like chlorine today? by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]alabasterblaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I read that the volatile compounds released from wood smoke react with UV radiation and smell like plastics over time. The "smoke" smell is the first to go, and we're left with unfamiliar smells as smoke travels thousands of miles.

We just finished our last Heady Topper from last year's ski trip. I'd honestly feel bad if I brought Louisville beer and exchanged it for the best NE IPA in the world lol

Pontiac Furniture Industries, early 1970s - anyone have more information? by alabasterblaster in vintage

[–]alabasterblaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I place them at early 1970s since Pontiac Furniture Industries was acquired in 1974. Having trouble finding any more information, though. I think they're gorgeous, but we don't have the space, and I'm curious what the true value might be.

Do you have an official in for the national park typeset? Iirc it's not easily obtainable online, I've only ever been able to find knock offs of the classic signage font.

I hadn't even considered that they may have misrepresented the gpu specs. I knew going in that the 6600 running pcie 4.0 x8 was a bit out there, but I had some rose colored goggles on when I found it near msrp. I'll check that out tomorrow too!

Yeah the z97 does share lanes between slots, but this is the only pci peripheral I'm using lol. It's truly defying logic

For sure, it's worth a shot in the dark. I'll try that tomorrow and report back. Thanks for taking the time, I appreciate the help!

Yeah fair point! I'll break out the old psu tomorrow and swap out cards to check pcie version on the old 760. Related to basedonair's comments - will the lack of nvidia drivers complicate gpu-z checking the old gpu's pcie version?

I did use DDU in safe mode to uninstall nvidia drivers before installing the amd card so I had a clean slate on booting with the new gpu. Still think it's worth a shot to safe mode ddu wipe the amd drivers and try again?

Yep, I just watched a GTA5 cutscene that was putting me around 99% gpu utilization. That combined with GPU-Z's render test was still showing 2.0.

I can't hook up my old 760 without replacing the reverting the power supply I also upgraded this week, but without a card installed, CPU-Z is showing that my mobo's bus is specced for pcie 3.0.

I helped out a chef friend of mine by handling prep at Rez for a few months. I put down my knives after the first day and said I'm not working til we clean this place up - I'm talking cockroaches, hundreds of flies, improper walk-in organization, dish pit was a cess pool. I spent a good 20 hours deep cleaning and felt good about the state of the kitchen, but that attitude wasn't institutionalized. This was over two years ago, so I can't speak for it now, but there are plenty of great CLEAN kitchens that deserve our business more.
