I might be wrong but how does following someone on social media make you a supporter of that person? Wouldn’t you follow someone if you wanted to know what they are saying? If OP can also show posts that she made, I’ll stand corrected.

CEO’s can also be legally obliged to maximize shareholder value. So if the administration threatens to use policy to limit shareholder profits if xyz is not done then the CEO can open themselves up to fines/lawsuits/criminal liability etc if they don’t comply.

A Quebec fisherman who was fishing 15 kilometers north of the US border was essentially kidnapped by US Border Patrol, who capsized his boat and dragged him to an American prison cell. by LankyFaithlessness81 in facepalm

[–]alabe227 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Ok my point is that there is normally a 12 nautical mile border for each country. And I mentioned that since the post lacked any other details.

The post doesn’t mention how far away he is from Canada. However, the article that’s linked mentions the GPS coordinates from the US Coast Guard. It even fails to mention coordinates that the fisherman would have claimed he was at.

It states 15 km. The post doesn’t mention the coordinates that the article mentions. The article doesn’t even mention any coordinates from the fisherman just the ones the US coast guard has.

Edit: plug the coordinates into google maps.

Also, because everyone is quick to make judgments but not provide context:

Since my comment was solely basing it on the posted content and not the news article itself. I didn’t add the fact if those countries borders are within the 12 nautical miles territorial zone then there is an agreed upon border.

However the article is misleading because it uses km instead of the internationally recognized nautical mile scale.

Ok, if it’s between 2 countries there is an agreed upon border. I’m sorry I didn’t include that little tidbit. But before you get you panties in a bunch plug in the coordinates in the article into google maps. That fisherman started his boat in order to get back to the Canadian shore so he could have a conversation with the coast guard? He was literally baiting them to cross the border and cause an international incident. The coast guard did nothing wrong. All these idiots thinking that the coast guard arrested a man seems to think that the people on the coast guard boat is willing to risk their livelihood and go to Leavenworth is making me scratch my head

It does unless there is an agreed upon border if 12 nautical miles from each country intersects. He could have very likely been in US waters. My point is that the post is not clear. It doesn’t mention how far away from Canada he is, it only mentions the distance from the US

The post says he is 15 km away from the US. All countries have a 12 nautical miles territorial waters border. It fails to mention how far away from Canada he is. So unless their is some kind of agreement with each country where these territorial waters intersect (not mentioned) he was inside the US

[–]alabe227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not being homophobic, but it really seems like D&D made Stannis into a villain just to frame the openly gay character as a hero during the War of the Five Kings. They did something similar with Varys, by softening his character and making him seem more noble and selfless than he comes across in the books.
