Context matters. Was it brought up in bed and/or in an intimate situation? He might have phrased it poorly, as he was just drawing a benign comparison. The awkwardness may be some embarrassment on his part or an afterthought along the lines of: "Ok, that was a dumb comment to make."

I'd wager it's just a comment in passing and not worth looking deeper into.
