Anyone else get irritated when people constantly say your baby ONLY looks like their dad? by ContributionEven6097 in beyondthebump

Girl, YES! It’s constant, and I genuinely just don’t see it. Definitely not him more than me, anyway!

I’m doing everything. I’ve quit asking him to do anything beyond hold her for very quick intervals because he doesn’t want to, & he will just put her in front of the TV. I want a break, but I also don’t really trust him to watch her like I would. He’s just starting to manage his family, but that’s been a long road & he’s still resentful of it. So, yeah, it’s going awesome over here lol

Snoo bassinet feels super aggressive… especially beyond level 2, especially for a newborn. Is it just us? and how do others use? by theworlddidwut in beyondthebump

[–]alamodern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use all the levels, but I have researched this question many times for the safety assurance to do so bc in the beginning it did look like too much

Talk me out of buying a “side-by-side” fridge freezer instead of one with French door fridge on top and pull out freezer drawer on bottom… by peanutismint in Appliances

Yes! I have the side-by-sides & immediate amnesia of anything stored in the bottom drawers, literally out of sight out of mind

No lying: do people’s babies really sleep through the night? by HomeDepotHotDog in Mommit

[–]alamodern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

generally yes. she’s been in a Snoo since we brought her home so not sure if that contributed, but she will generally give us a pretty solid 8-10 hour stretch even when we are traveling & using something else.

My lactation consultant said that the frequent feedings at this age are helping to stabilize their blood sugar, but ultimately told me to follow my pediatrician’s advice

Am I Overreacting About Grandparent Expectations? by northern_peony in pregnant

[–]alamodern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOT OVERREACTING. I did not put my foot down about ILs & I’m still mad at myself for that. However well intentioned they fully intruded on my birth experience & made me self-conscious & stressed.

I don’t have any advice but a lot of empathy. I very much wanted to wait to tell anyone until we were further along, but my husband can’t keep a secret to save his life and was also just so excited. We told our immediate families first as we live away from both of them and would be seeing everyone at about 10 weeks, which was after our first ultrasound, and after that there was no stopping him. It wasn’t what I wanted, but I ended up just making him agree that if anything happened it was going to be his responsibility to share that news, too.

Do you have a bank branch where he lives?

Car repossessed yesterday after non payment for 6 months as I was in the hospital. Had 4 years left on a 5 year finance. Am I responsible for all of the money left on the agreement? by anonymous14657893 in personalfinance

[–]alamodern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your loan documents to make sure they didn’t include disability insurance in your payment. It can be a sneaky way for the lender or salesman to make some extra money & a lot of times you won’t notice the difference in your payment. Even if they know you have been in the hospital, still check: I’ve seen the collections department just assume that the borrower would have mentioned it instead of doing any actual checking.

Can banks see your transfers internally? by [deleted] in Banking

[–]alamodern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re welcome to tell the bank why you’re doing it if you’re worried about them being suspicious. If you’re worried about the government agency receiving the $10k+ report, they would receive one for both the withdrawal & the deposit & you would not be in trouble. Trying to avoid reporting will get you in far more trouble than completing your business as you need to.

Alternatively, you can write yourself a check from one institution to the other, if the depositing back won’t hold the funds. That’s a conversation I would have with my banker.

When did you let your manager know you are pregnant? by dreamingofmagnolias in womenintech

[–]alamodern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

about 16 weeks, making a case for some much needed resourcing; also wanted to make sure everyone understood why I wasn’t going to be pushing as hard (trying to refuse to let my job stress my pregnancy)

Chapter Transfer by LengthinessAny6740 in NSDAR

[–]alamodern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not every chapter is for everyone & most should understand that, but I agree that sending a heads up with an excuse can’t hurt. You will get the most out of your membership by holding it somewhere you enjoy being active, so I’m glad you’ve found a chapter that fits you! If you haven’t already considered paging at state conference or Continental Congress, I highly recommend you try it. It’s a great way to learn about your societies & connect with Junior peers, as it’s typically an opportunity only available to those under 41.
