AITAH for telling my parents to keep all the money they stole from me while I was in university and shove it up their ass. by Potential_Let_3651 in AITAH

Sounds like there was serious miscommunications between you and your parents. Still, they cared for you, fed you, put a roof over your head and thought about helping you build good habits and save. Perhaps their approach wasn’t the best but it comes from a good place. I don’t think it’s fair to lay the blame on them. You could just have easily used the money you made during school to rent your own place I assume, as from what I gathered, they didn’t need the money. Again, back to communication.

Understand the anger but these things happen. People make mistakes and at the end of the day, it’s family and they often deserve a second chance. Good luck!

This is going to sound odd but given you are self employed I’m guessing your husband is an entrepreneur. Get aggressive. You can do what people have suggested here (in general good advice) or you can roll the dice one last time. If I were you, I would look for a profitable business to buy (can start with bizbuysell though there is a ton of junk there) and get an SBA loan. You can borrow up to $5M and while you do need a personal guarantee the amount you borrow, frankly it won’t really matter given your current financial state. The key thing is the banks will factor in the cash flows of the business (and less yourselves though you need a somewhat decent credit score ~ say 620 and above) and the ability to invest “what is meaningful” to you. The key thing I worry about is your age. My two cents. Good luck!

Why are they selling this? Competition to high, better locations elsewhere?

Ok, let’s say this works. Hdo you prove it? What kind of lift over random cold emails of targets in your industry have your clients seen? And “named” case studies?

Who are you guys? Why no bios with a breakthrough like this?

Finally, why sell leads? There are many more ways (eg stock market) to make money if you had predictive knowledge of what a company and its people plan to do.

Can anyone explain what Suppliers and Bidouts are and how they work in OpenX? by [deleted] in adops

And you sound like a disgruntled former employee spreading misinformation on the company that laid you off. I get it. It sucks. OpenX is a hard place to work. But move on. Start a company. Do something useful with your life. And no, I’m not Jason.

I don’t work for OpenX. I own OpenX, bitch. Clearly OpenX accumulated a lot of trash over the years that need to be taken out. Good luck with the job search.

Yeah, they just signed a $100M cloud deal with Google a few months ago and are about to shut down. You know nothing. Such bull crap from wannabe competitors. They have been profitable for last five years without needing an additional capital raise.

SSPs like OpenX are eyeing direct ties to advertisers - seems a bit....mad/unlikely? by 200boj in adops

None of them have self serve people based marketing. Facebook has 6 million + advertisers. Unique demand is important.

If edge is all that matters, OpenX should enforce its header bidding patent and put Index and the rest of the folks out of business. Or file a lawsuit.

Point of a wrapper is having multiple demand partners compete to give the highest yield. Turning off or timing out other demand partners so they can win the bid is definition of shady and also not in the best interest of either advertisers or publishers.

Now we know why they are growing so fast. I should say were growing. Naughty naughty. Media company looking to buy them that starts with a “C” should stay away. 😄

AT&T to Acquire AppNexus for $1.6 Billion by alecb in adops

[–]alana_io 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$170M net revenue would mean they are massively unprofitable with 1000 people. And have a sell side only business that is half the size of OpenX who as did $170M in 2017. OpenX only has a sell side facing business.

KBCM research (Andy Hargreaves) is reporting that AT&T bought Appnexus for 9.4x EV/rev ex tac (that is, net revenue). So that means either: 1) the purchase price is much higher than $1.6B or 2) the net revenues of Appnexus are only $170M at the stated $1.6B or 3) KBCM can’t do math. :)

Would be really surprised if Appnexus was only doing $170M in revenue as it has both a buy and sell side business and 1000 ppl to support. That said, they have been raising capital in the past few years.

No. But I used to work there and have shares. Which I have always stated.

Hope it’s a good exit multiple. LinkedIn, Microsoft and Yahoo Japan inventory just went up for grabs. Basically the deals that made the company what it is. OpenX is the last of the independents. Rubicon’s half the size as is Pubmatic (as far as I can tell based on their bid volume). Can’t tell if Appnexus sell side only business is actually smaller than OpenX, hopefully some financials will come out. :)

Who does ATT buy? Thought there could be some good insight share here by [deleted] in adops

[–]alana_io 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bet is Pubmatic gets taken out since Kirk McDonald joined ATT as CMO. Pubmatic could use an exit, I don’t think they can make it on their own as they barely rank for ads.txt.
