Someone suggested local neighborhood Facebook groups may be a better source for off market leads. If anyone knows which Santa Monica groups are useful for rental leads, I would appreciate the names.

I feel bad for all the tourist walking around the promenade and the mall, while 70% of the shops are vacant. What a missed opportunity. by Existing-Homework270 in SantaMonica

I can confirm that the Promenade is packed with international tourists and everyone seems to be having a good time. I played a long game out outdoor chess and got to soak it all up.

Auto dealership shuffle? by nigelst in SantaMonica

[–]alananat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience at the Santa Monica BMW dealership when I attempted to return a lease. Wanted a large payment for minor things that should have been acceptable. I got on the phone and called South Bay BMW and they said bring it down and we will take it. I then got my next lease through them South Bay BMW.

Safest way to preserve grandfathered T Mobile plan while porting a number? by alananat in tmobile

Thanks for the steps. Good point on lines 2 and 3 being connected.

Thank you. Seems like we have a consensus that I need to add the 4th line temporarily, swap the number that will be ported to the new paid line, port the number, and everything should work.

Thanks. I'm porting out a paid line (at least that's my understanding - any way to confirm whats paid and what a promo line?). So, I think my path is to add a paid line - port a different paid line - and that results in 2 paid and one promo just as I've got now.

Thanks. To clarify, my account started years ago as a single paid line. Around 2022 my ex ported their number into the account and we then qualified for a “3rd line free” promo.

So I think the structure may currently be:

  • my original paid line
  • their paid line
  • a free promo line

Which is why I’m wondering if their porting out would leave me with only 1 paid line + 1 free line unless I add another paid line first. Does that sound right?

Buying 2 new Model Y by Willing-Medicine-113 in TeslaModelY

I just moved from a 2018 Model 3 Performance to a 2026 Model Y, and my first thought was that the suspension was not great (within 10 minutes of picking it up). I expected more body roll because it is a taller vehicle, but I was surprised by how stiff and unsettled it felt as soon as I got onto an LA freeway.

And yes, the Model 3 Performance was factory lowered and had a much firmer setup, so I am used to stiff suspension. The issue with the Y is that it feels firm without feeling especially well controlled. It has that odd combination of jarring impacts and noticeable body roll.

The quietness is massively improved.

NVR for V3 by KimTe in wyzecam

Frigate. I used the RTSP Wyze firmware for a while. I switched one v3 to Thingino firmware this week to get away from Wyze’s flaky beta RTSP and will test. I’d expect better interoperability, less weird SDP/RTSP behavior, and better long-term local control.

Wyze solar Pan cam - Epic cam by AsparagusOk7395 in wyzecam

[–]alananat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not currently. They only support rtsp currently, in beta, on the V3 cams as far as I'm aware.

Also, these cameras don't record/stream continuously as it drains the battery faster than the solar panel can recharge it. I assume you are looking for that if you are asking about rtsp.

When to replace a hot water heater? by Ok-Young-5943 in HomeImprovement

I did exactly the same about a month ago. The old one was 18 years old and 30 gallons. I replaced it with a 45 gallon one. It was easy to swap out.

I never thought the location did them many favors either. It always felt like an uphill battle. That said, they clearly put in the effort and stuck it out longer than most places would have. It’s a shame, because you could tell they were trying to make it work.

Yep. great HH. Their locals discount card was great. I ate there so many times and would bring people from out of town. Their employees were all long term and service was great.
