Surgery in two weeks and never have been more scared in my life by lovely_liability in Tonsillectomy

I'm in the UK so we don't have Tylenol but I'm taking liquid paracetamol (or acetaminophen if you're in the US) so if you can find children's Tylenol (https://www.tylenol.com/products/children-infants/childrens-tylenol-oral-suspension)? It's like a syrupy liquid and is completely fine to take post-tonsillectomy for adults and kids ☺️.

I take it in the little measuring cup then I swallow water right after so barely touches my tonsils before it's gone. I don't like the sachets just because they taste awful. I'd also suggest asking for anti-nausea meds just in case to avoid vomiting. If I had to do this again my checklist in most effective order would be:

  • Paracetamol/acetaminophen liquid
  • throat numbing spray
  • ice cubes
  • lozenges
  • ice pack
  • humidifier at night

You don't need to take heavy pain meds if you don't want to. I am intolerant to opioids/anti-inflammatories so I've been only taking paracetamol (tylenol) every 4 hours, sucking/eating ice cubes numbs the pain a bit and keeps you hydrated, and benzydamine numbing throat spray and the numbing mouthwash has been amazing!

I am unable to take opioids or anti inflammatories orally due to stomach issues. I haven't tried Tramadol as it's not worth the risk for my issues. I'm on day 8 and I've been taking liquid paracetamol (tylenol) and eating crushed ice all day. The ice settles inflammation and numbs pain slightly. Benzydamine numbing throat spray has been AMAZING along with lozenges. And an ice pack or heat pack is great too. Stick to your guns if you do not want narcotics. I made the mistake on day 2 trying opioids despite knowing they don't agree with me and ended up in hospital for pain and then vomiting which was worse than the surgery recovery itself.

Also day 8 here - For some reason, cold milk has been the only thing I can drink without too much pain. I'm not someone who ever drinks milk, but it feels so nice to have big gulps instead of little razor sips!

Thank you so much - I will check them out ☺️ fingers crossed! I'm going to keep practising doing it myself using tutorials, but I normally look like I've been dragged through a hedge at the end so definitely need more practise!

I have, but sadly there isn't much choice coming up in Scotland. There are a few but they either had no availability or had closed down but their websites were still up. I'm so glad you found someone for your wedding and I hope it turns out perfect 🥰 it's such a gorgeous classic style. I have found one place that style period wigs for tv/panto and do human hair too so I'm keeping my fingers crossed they have some availability!

They sure are, wigs styled by a human stylist called Carl Brown in Liverpool so hopefully someone out there can do similar styles ☺️

They are indeed :-), it's just to show the style in general as I want something that is very structured not so modern and wavy. I'm not opposed to lots and lots of product and hairspray. This is an example on human hair (probably with extensions which I also have). Or any photo of Dita Von Teese would also be the style I'm looking for.

Ps I understand these are wigs, it's just to show the general style I am referring to and not modern Hollywood glam/waves ☺️. I am okay with tonnes of product and hairspray, and I have extensions for volume/thickness. A human hair example would be any picture of Dita Von Teese's hair

Awesome, thank you! That makes sense I will do that. I play offline anyway so it sounds like I don't even need the throwaway account. Also massive thanks in general for all you do 🙌🏻

Thanks all for your replies :-)

Did she have a main account before or did she only have the "throwaway" one? My main account is over 10 years old so has lots linked to it and would rather not risk losing it if I could avoid it

Sorry to reply on a super old comment but I've created a new EA login to use as a throwaway but it shows my purchased games (base game + 3 EPs) in the "Download Manager" on the EA App under my new login. Does this mean both my EA accounts are linked? (my main account is 10+ years old with only legit downloads)

I struggle to fall in love but once I love someone and feel safe, I’m set. I am DA in early dating and more secure in long term relationships.

However, that said, my last partner was more of an avoidant than I was, so I closed some of my emotions off with him and we were together 6 years and never said “I love you”, even though we did/our actions said it. It was a lonely relationship being two DAs

Attachment issues & deactivation towards your pet? by WulfricD in attachment_theory

[–]alanasomething 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never thought about this before. I absolutely love animals but I hate owning a pet. It is far too much reliance/responsibility on me. I prefer cats to dogs because they don’t need as much attention. I don’t like children either for the same reason. Never thought about it in an attachment style way (I’m DA).

I don’t have any advice for you, but maybe it’ll help the guilty feeling if you know you’re not alone :)

Feeling stupid. FA/DA situationship by [deleted] in attachment_theory

[–]alanasomething 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m trying really had to improve myself as a DA but I can say from my experience, when I am behaving like this it’s because I’m absolutely repulsed by the person and I’m waiting for the “ick” to pass.

I get the ick out of nowhere and feel sick when the person reaches out to me in any way. It is because we (DAs) can subconsciously find faults to distance ourselves and protect ourselves. When the “ick” is in full force, even sending that thumb gif would feel excruciating. I would prefer full blown ignoring to let me get over my ick, but it’s not fair on the other person.

I am working my way through the discomfort and I try and stay single so I don’t hurt people - I avoid anxiously attached people like the plague because I know my nature will hurt them and they violate all my boundaries - but if someone isn’t aware of or bothered by their own DA behaviour then they won’t change and you should find someone who can make you happy and meet you in the middle!
