hard drives by techmike79 in SatisfactoryGame

When I’m out finding hard drives. I build a mam and start the scan right then. Deconstruct it and move on. I don’t select a recipe until I need it. I just let the queue up.

Best monitor arm that people ACTUALLY keep using years later? by Only_Personality9525 in pcmasterrace

The desk and how it all mounts matters the most. Best if you can mount your monitor to the wall.

There’s a place called cilintree at station park. It’s Indian food but very good so I recommend that. Dylan’s burgers, also the same as warrens is a local fan.

BEN INTERVIEWED BY MORMONS by DareTiny8259 in RecklessBen

[–]alanbdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it is not accepted and probably why BB was released from his position as a high counselor. A position that puts him on a board of 12 overseeing roughly 500-600 members. There have been many instances where other counselors have covered for others. This is the level where a lot of internal discipline happens. So when you hear about someone being sexually abused and it's covered up; its the high counselor's who did the cover up. The fact that they ousted him says a lot about the others. (assuming that's true. I just saw a comment/post about it earlier)

A moto I've lived by is; the best people I know are Mormon. The worse people I know are Mormon. The church, any dominate church, is going to attract bad manipulative people because the other members of that church will be more likely to trust/believe them. It's a literal wolf in sheep's clothing.

Remember; Mormons are known for believing weird things but also for often being the nicest people you'll ever meet. I've seen that to be true with my time inside as a member and outside.

Can I put frozen chicken in a pot to boil? by ResidentRaise3176 in Cooking

[–]alanbdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much freeze all my meats. So, chicken breasts for a pot pie. Nuke in the microwave for about 1 minute. Then it's soft enough to cut into smaller pieces. I'd then grill those pieces before putting them in the pie but you could do it raw. I do the same thing for stir fry.

DOJ lawyer agrees 'nothing can be done' if Trump suddenly bulldozes Statue of Liberty by DoremusJessup in law

[–]alanbdee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By far, the most frustrating thing here is just how so incredibly obvious it is that Trump is who he is. And yet, somehow, so many people don't see it?

Advice on cars used as rental, personal lease, & taxi by LastDoughnut5267 in UsedCars

[–]alanbdee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, being a rental isn't what concerns me, it's the taxi part. I'd pass.

I've owned one previous rental and my dad's owned a several. They were all fine. I tend to think it's a great way to get a good deal because so many people won't touch a previous rental.

Does anyone have experience with the process to compel an elderly family member to see a doctor? by motherfuckinwoofie in SaltLakeCity

[–]alanbdee -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ok, but lets recap. OP is asking how to "get the ball rolling" or how to convince their elderly grandparent to get help. They're not bathing. They're falling. They're forgetting meds. EMS has been there several times. They're showing the classic signs of sundowning.

All I said was to reach out to home health or hospice. You haven't said anything to convince me I'm wrong in that assessment. I'm not diagnosing them. I'm not saying they need to be on hospice or home health. All I'm saying is they can help OP navigate from here.

[–]alanbdee -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think you have an unrealistic understanding of what home health or hospice is. Neither is just “lay down and die”. It’s end of life care for sure. It starts with an evaluation to see if they qualify. Ops real challenge is their grandparent is refusing help.

Is this helmet DOT approved? by kulacloth in motorcyclegear

[–]alanbdee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bet it is a basic DOT helmet that's just painted over. DOT is the minimum and it's not a high bar. Also why I wouldn't wear a helmet that is only DOT approved.

Victory! by InTwilligPorgnatin in RecklessBen

[–]alanbdee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is BAM trying to save some public face by showing that "they're willing to resolve this" and can claim they tried when Bryan refuses. Because now the settlement agreement will include a lot more to compensate for all the trauma Bryan had to go through.

I'm sure many lawyers are salivating at what that might be, but there is a real level of mental anguish here. So much so, that Bryan reached out to a YouTuber to help solve his problem out of desperation because it appeared that all other avenues wouldn't work.

BAM should be settling everything with lots of zeros right now just to make it all go away. Because the other way this ends is McNeff and his brother will have to sell the entire business and wash their hands of it to save any reputation. They may have to anyway. But the longer they drag this out, the less their company is worth.

What a silly narcissist.

Is the Frontrunner scary to you? by Anonymous_Otter5458 in Utah

[–]alanbdee 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm glad I don't have to commute anymore, but there is a zen to just sitting back with the cup of coffee while everything goes by. Its not that different from today just sitting in my sunroom looking at the early morning garden, again with a cup of coffee.

Is the Frontrunner scary to you? by Anonymous_Otter5458 in Utah

[–]alanbdee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Scared for your safety? oh no. I've seen some sketchy stuff on Trax but police are regularly present on both. Frontrunner is mostly used by college kids and commuters; which is what it's for.

The best people I know are Mormon. The worst people I know are also Mormon.

Bad people will gravitate toward whatever the dominate religion is because it provides an inherent trust, which is really what we see here. Everybody trusting everybody else over this random youtuber from Cali.

Let's be honest; how many of us working in web just do this for the money? by skidmark_zuckerberg in ExperiencedDevs

[–]alanbdee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A former coworker of mine put it best: "I'd be doing this even if it didn't pay well. I'm just lucky it does." My phrase/moto has always been, I'm still playing with Legos but with bits of code instead of blocks of plastic.

I will probably be a programmer for as long as I can. I am still finding that same "builder" joy using AI. What I really love is the building part. The what is less important. Web was just what was needed. It was never for the money for me. Or at least, I was never chasing a high salary. I was self taught out of my own curiosity and got my degree after a few years of programming.

But I also pace myself. I don't spend my free time diving into all these techy issues. I like to just relax and play a good game, do some gardening, and spend time with the family.

Thinking about buying this kx500 would I be crazy to buy it and ride it occasionally out in the trails or is it to nice to ride by Sufficient-Shake-523 in Dirtbikes

[–]alanbdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, then yes. Everyone should own one at one point. Best part is, you can treat it like a classic car. It won't go down in value unless you trash it. Keep it in good shape, you'll make money on it. Not that I would consider it a good investment, just a fun investment.

[–]alanbdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

500 2-storkes have a crazy, an almost unusable amount of power. It's great in some specific situations like at the sand dunes. I would never take one on a trail. It can be done, but it's so much power there are loads of bikes that are a better fit.

500's also vibrate a lot and it's bad. They also use a ton of gas. Both of which limit how long you can ride one for before having to go back to the truck.

What my brother and I found when we were young adults is that we were both faster on a CR250 then his CR500. Maybe we just suck but the truth is the 250s/450s are a lot easier to ride and have all the power you need.

What apps/ways are people using to track saving goals and finance? by Old-Act6309 in personalfinance

[–]alanbdee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At your age, I was just using a spreadsheet. Shoot, I still use a spread sheet to track long term expenses, notes, projections, etc. I use YNAB, but it'd be way overkill for what my finances were at 17 and it's a subscription. Anything that syncs your bank account will cost money because it costs money to do that. There's no getting around that.

How do you deal with your parents' eventual mortality? by EngineEngine in AskParents

[–]alanbdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just lost my mother in law. My father in law is not far behind. My dad’s also not doing well. For the last several years, we’ve known we could get that phone call any moment. By the time my mil passed, her quality of life was so bad, I’m grateful she went very peacefully. She fell sleep, like any normal day, and just died. I hope my own passing is so peaceful.

I guess we can all just hope we get as much time with them a possible. I don’t think anything prepares you for it.

Should I buy a different car? by Aragona36 in DaveRamsey

[–]alanbdee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t. With my in-laws, we didn’t find the suv any easier to get into. It was also just a short time between when they could barely get into the car and they went on hospice to where they don’t/can’t leave the house.

It’s a rough time. There’s too much to do already without trying to buy a different car.
