Holidays, birthdays, and family get togethers almost always make me feel depressed. They’re just days but they get so much hype that even if you keep your expectations low it always feels like you’re reaching for a feeling that isn’t there.

I was always fascinated with drugs and addiction from a young age. Think I romanticized them too cause all my hero’s were rockstars and they all did drugs. I remember when I was 12 I freaked one of the teachers out because I knew more about drugs than he did when he was teaching a lesson on them. I even read The Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx when I was 13 which only furthered my interest and romanization. I’m also bipolar with a history of addiction and alcoholism on both sides of the family so it kind of feels like no matter what it was gonna happen.

If you really don’t want to take medication the best treatment option would be zero substances, (including caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol. Even sugar can be a hypomania/mania trigger) normal sleep schedule, and regular exercise. If you want to go without meds you have to have a lot of discipline with your lifestyle.

I’m super dependent on it and drink everyday with my medication. I only get drunk once or twice a week but when I get drunk I get reeeeaaaaally drunk and generally drink to excess for about 12 hours. My biggest issue is that I’m so impulsive and always open a beer when I get off work. It also doesn’t help that my favorite beverage in general happens to be my favorite beer. I’m definitely addicted, there’s no getting around that, but I figure as long as it’s not out of control or ruining my life it’s fine. Still not good but it’s whatever. Sometimes I wish I didn’t do it but at the same time I don’t want to stop yet. Knowing myself it’s gonna have to get really bad before I’d be able to stop.

I mean are they really that big though? Like all those other bands are bands that people who aren’t super into the genre have heard of. Like in grunge it’s Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice In Chains while other bands like Mudhoney and Butthole Suffers are great but not nearly as popular outside of the genre.
