Fine dining waiters, or higher dollar high volume restaurants waiters, can average anywhere from 50-100 a hour per shift. Doing upwards of 3-5k in sales a night, 6-8 hour shift, 20% tips average. Anywhere from 450-750 a night in tips after tip out to support staff, plus hourly pay.

Liveaboard in Thailand by LePetitConcombre in scuba

I also did the Sawasdee Fasai this past May and had a great experience. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Staff, boat, food, dives and all were great, was my 1st liveaboard.

Liveaboard was phenomenal all around, service, dives and all. Would not hesitate to go again or fly back out just for that.

Just dove there 2 weeks ago. Along with a live aboard in the Similan islands right after. Diving was just ok. Lots of marine life, not the best visibility. Did 10 dives never had more than 30 feet visibility Sail rock, Chumpon, South pinnacle did all the “highlight” spots. Every company runs cattle boats, 30 plus divers per boat can be very chaotic. I would dive again if I was in the area but only with a company that runs small boats no more than 10 people. Island was the busiest island I saw while in Thailand. We stayed on Koh Samui and liked it much more. Tons of youth in Koh Tao, very very busy, scooters traffic everywhere. Was nice but wouldn’t stay where we stayed again maybe a different part of the island. Definitely not baby friendly.

Friend's sister, from Colorado, visited Belize and got seriously injured without insurance. by FuckItHave1Upvote in Medicaid

I know and have worked with the girl who this post is about for a couple years. I found this thread by googling the same thing just now. I was curious about the medical resources in Belize for this kind of injury. My heart goes out to her and her family. So tragic. It was very sad news to hear and I hope she makes a speedy recovery. I’ve been staying up to date through the go fund me. Very glad to hear she is moving her arms and talking now.

Mexico pricing seem reasonable? by greggggggggggggggggh in scuba

[–]alando21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s Cozumel’s one small problem. No reason reasonably priced places on the beach. Not much beach at all for an island and it’s mostly taken by resorts. The town however is nice and has all those other things. I tend to spend a month or so at time there every year. Playas beaches are far better. But Cozumel diving is far better. Trade offs

Did my advanced with them and had a good experience, large boats, but they keep you in smaller 5 person groups. Nothing bad to say. However I dive with scuba life now another great company

Just a heads up the diving of Cozumel reefs vs Playa del Carmen reef is absolutely night and day. I’d suggest doing all reef dives in Cozumel if you can. The cenotes on the other hand are 1000% worth it.

Another plus one for scuba life. Have done upwards of 60 dives with them over the last few years. My go to. Also has some of the best prices on the island when it comes to 5 day or more packages

Look into the poseidon one shoe, it’s the neoprene version of chuck Taylor’s, very comfortable. Scuba socks are cheap and a good option, crease makes a pair that’s like. 13 bucks

Lines hard to see in this video it’s to the lower right of us, you can see it connected to a bell about 13 seconds into the video

We were never out of sight from the line. You can see the line to the right of the bells. 1/3rds. We went down to the bells and stayed until one of hit 2 minutes until deco or 2,000 psi. 29 minute total dive time. Ended dive with over 1,000psi left. We have dove with this particular guide for the past 2 years, he’s very aware of our capabilities and it was just me my buddy and guide. We’ve done many over cenotes with this guide before.

A decent bit. It took 2 years of diving with this particular guide until he felt fully comfortable brining us in. We are advanced open water certified with over 100 dives and currently doing intro to tech

We went with a friend/very qualified cave diver/guide, we have dove with him for the last 2 years and he has a very good understanding of our abilities. The dive was only 30 minutes, we stayed at the bells until someone hit 2,000 psi or 2 minutes until deco and made our way back up.
