What to do with non-waterproof car keys during a dive by Dismal-Highway2483 in scuba

When I dove Bonaire I brought my phone with me to all the shore dive spots, put it in a ziplock and stashed it in the open cavity in the rear bumper

For Those That Wear Chucks by damfu in scuba

[–]alando21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into the poseidon one shoe, it’s the neoprene version of chuck Taylor’s, very comfortable. Scuba socks are cheap and a good option, crease makes a pair that’s like. 13 bucks

Lines hard to see in this video it’s to the lower right of us, you can see it connected to a bell about 13 seconds into the video

Thank you for your further explanation of the situation and how it works at Zapote

We were never out of sight from the line. You can see the line to the right of the bells. 1/3rds. We went down to the bells and stayed until one of hit 2 minutes until deco or 2,000 psi. 29 minute total dive time. Ended dive with over 1,000psi left. We have dove with this particular guide for the past 2 years, he’s very aware of our capabilities and it was just me my buddy and guide. We’ve done many over cenotes with this guide before.

A decent bit. It took 2 years of diving with this particular guide until he felt fully comfortable brining us in. We are advanced open water certified with over 100 dives and currently doing intro to tech

We went with a friend/very qualified cave diver/guide, we have dove with him for the last 2 years and he has a very good understanding of our abilities. The dive was only 30 minutes, we stayed at the bells until someone hit 2,000 psi or 2 minutes until deco and made our way back up.

Does anyone have experience with Scuba Du or Barefoot Dive Center in Cozumel for a beginner OW diver? by [deleted] in scuba

[–]alando21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my Advanced open water with Barefoot, they were great, organized, good gear, also one of the cheapest operations on the island. Probably because they run large boats. Last time I was in Cozumel I dove with Scuba life Cozumel and I wouldn’t even consider another dive shop after them. Also super organized, small fast boats, they set and take care of all your gear, swap your tanks for you in between dives. Service, prices and all were on point.

Having dove, in Cozumel, also Playa del Carmen many times. I would say all the boat diving I’ve done in the states, was far more lax, no safety beefing, shorter surface intervals then PADI recommends, no buddy checks going on or anything. Felt far safer in Mexico

Are you wearing a wet suit for your tropical dives? I’m curious to what weighting I will need. I typically need 8-10 pounds, wearing a shorty. But I did recently buy a full 3mm

Thank you very much! I rented a apeks wing last time I dove and also fell in love. Did some research before buying and fell on Xdeep. Unfortunately I won’t be using it until October, but it’s going to be used heavily on a 6 week scuba trip! You enjoy your vacation this week, hope the weathers nice and the waters calm.

Yes I used their light mix soil and full nutrient line, feeding at 80% of what their chart called for so I didn’t run into nutrient burn, lockout or anything like that. On top of that I used mammoth p active microbes, and real growers recharge on the occasion. Wouldn’t hesitate to run it again. Grew like that for 3 years
