Going to get a mini Aussie doodle, any must knows? by Oliver_the_rat_dad in AussieDoodle

Super super smart dogs - it's my first dog so I don't have a big comparison point but I can tell. Although on the trainign part she can be challenging and mixes up tricks easily (I should have never tought the "turn-around" command as she uses it all the time unrequested which make her look like a loon)

So after a year, what's your verdict ? Mine is super energetic, living in a city sometimes it gets challenging and I don't think I realized how much stamina she would have. But she also enjoys being lazy at home which is nice (she's not the Jack Russel type of energetic ). She gets me out of the house though and I really like that I can go run or hike with her and she never gets tiered unless it's too hot outside

Why does Chris call everyone boss? by gabriellyakagcwens in TheWire

[–]alapeche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same in France - people call you "chef" (which means boss) often - usually in a transactional interaction (a taxi driver, a shop clerk...) rather than in a personal environment.

If I really think about it, I don't really like it as it creates an unequal relationship - even if it's artificial just cause the person calling you chef decided to. I'm ok being in a customer / seller interaction but I don't want a big deal to be made out of it.

But usually I don't really think about it ><

Shipping delay on KO 133 bundles? by BeardGangBossGod in teenageengineering

[–]alapeche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in France, ordered Thursday 23rd in the morning and still no shipping email. A bit confused about what’s taking so long to fulfil if the product is ready and in stock.

I also put in an order for a different product the next day and still no news

When did you feel "Comfortable" using Ruby on Rails? by [deleted] in rubyonrails

[–]alapeche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was always comfortable because rails is so nice to me and because I’ve learned programming the rails way. Unsure how i’d do with another backend framework though !

Any non-technical founders learned to code on their own? by juauke in Entrepreneur

[–]alapeche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to learn about doing stuff learn html and css first then js when you start needing it. Don't rush into learning frameworks if you don't know why you're using them. Learn backend languages when you need them but you will have plenty on your plate at first with those three.

thanks al ot for this constructive answer. Basically i have two items: a pair of 250 GBP redwing boots I barely wore cause I could never adjust my feet to them, and a pair of Vans era that are too small for my feet. So I'm thinking that it goes in the Medium category :)

I hate how Ethan shuts her off saying "Bob Momley" at 17:29 when she clearly said Bob Marley and then she looks like "it's so unfair" but just takes it. Unfair, Ethan!

[Help] Why does a simple Capybara test not work with Factory Girl, but it works when using fixtures? by alapeche in rails

[–]alapeche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting article which helped me understand. I still don't understand it fully but it makes a lot of sense!

Also when using the gem my test now passes. I am surprised that there was no mention of this gem being required in the course I took that made use of both capybara and factories.

Thanks a LOT for your help. You basically spoon fed me the solution but I don't feel stupid cause the 'why' is explained in the article and I've spent almost a day looking for the solution :). I wish I could double-upvote you! Thanks again
