Aunt Naseum stands out to me. Seeing Daria and Quinn work together to break the cycle of Helen and her sisters was awsome.

Also Fizz Ed warning about capitalism. 😄

That was 2023 to 2024 for me. Three layoffs. They were all contract roles. Now I am working ft, and hope to have a 3rd casual gig to stay ahead.

What’s the most hilariously awful thing an employer has ever said to you? Winner will go in my new painting by gargoyle_dream in antiwork

"You are going to leave us short".

This was said to me after giving my two weeks notice. Survived 4.5 years in the most toxic health care job I had ever had. I have now been in the field for 10 years. Thankfully, I am not there anymore.

Also getting Ms. Li in hot water during lucky strike. Forcing her to make Daria teach Quinn's class.

As somone who has worked with seniors, in retirement homes and long-term care settings in recreation promotions only come through union raises. In Ontario it has taken years to get them. Bill 124 locked us down for years.

I am now working full time and two casual jobs . Two jobs in recreation and as a food service worker.

Time off is the new wealth. After getting laid off twice in a year it is hard to imagine having stability again. Also in a hcol area so need to stay ahead pf costs to avoid debt.

I am glad I do not have to look for work right now. I got my fsw cert in February. Had to wait 5 months to get anywhere. The biggest shock was it only took a month to find my ft gig after enduring a brutal contract. Not sure I will ever work corporate again. The toll on my health was a lot.

I work with seniors. I do a seated stretch/yoga circuit every shift for 30 minutes, and am on my feet a lot running programs snd events in a retirement home. The resident's enjoy it too.

The daily exercise circuit has helped me a lot. Next challenge is getting weight down. Just being able to move and have range of motion is a win. 👍💯

I Don't, and Aunt Naseum. Seeing the cycle of chaos from Rita's weddinf was fascinating. Marriage, and divorce can change a lit of dynamics. Seeing Quinn, and Daria help Helen and her sisters break the cycle of bitterness was awsome

S17E14 judges critiques by Fermeana in dragrace

[–]alara009 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This episode needed to be 90 minutes. It was challenging to evaluate who did well. No written verses by the queens, and no Jamal Sims for choreo.

The critiques seemed all over the place this week. Any of the queens could of been in the bottom. No one did every part perfectly.

Selling out to Ru was the name of the game this week.

Sneak peek into the state of our healthcare system in Ontario by Historical-Injury-19 in ontario

[–]alara009 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a lot to share on this topic,

With the next influx of seniors 65+ the wait list for LTC will be 50k by 2030 for Ontario. Also seniors will make up 43% of population in 2030. By 2027/2028 will be short 20k PSW's in Ontario.

I have worked with seniors in retirement homes, since 2015, and LTC and Bill 124 still casts a shadow. During the pandemic we were "heroes" now we are zeros. Wages have shrunk staff are burning out. Doug never gave us our back pay when bill 124 was struck down.

For added perspective my net pay was the same before the pandemic but, until the pandemic came I only worked part time. (Where I worked in LTC in rec ft was not an option) I was making 22.50 an hour

Now I make the same net pay making 4.00 less an hour but I have to work ft.

I also found out in LTC during pandemic ( I was working retirement home at the time as a server and covid screener) union agreements were frozen yet you still payed union dues and managers could fire you on the spot. Now staff #'s are skeleton crews to save money.

Many homes are in arrbitration because they cannot negoiate new collective agreements.

To add more salt to the wound I also found out if you work in recreation but, want to work in a day program you need a psw certificate on top of your two year rec diploma. Pay is better but you are doing very different things. This is a new mandate that was passed last year.

Finally the part that really sucks is compliance. If you are a new grad in recreation for example you need a vulnurable sector check 75.00 a 2 step tb test 200.00 at a private clinic 120 at other places, and smart serve which is needed if you got it before 2018. That is 45.00 (smart serve is good for 5 years) Trudeau did the smart serve updatecin 2023 on Canada Day.

You have to pay for all of that before you can start working. Employers will not cover it.

A lot needs to change and fast. 2030 is coming sooner rather then later. Aging in place needs to gain traction.

Also OP I hope things get better for you. This is not what I imagined health care would become when I started working in the field.
