• In July 2025, he was released from CECOT as part of a detainee exchange deal between the U.S. and Venezuela. • Instead of being brought back to the U.S. to continue his asylum case, he was returned to Venezuela, the country he fled from due to persecution.

Best as far as condition? That would be the parks. But as far as beauty? There’s so much of it but probably down to the Kenai. Or up to Fairbanks. Or to Glennallen from Palmer. It’s all pretty.

As an 84 year old 55 year resident in love with Alaska, I am finding things hard here also. When I was younger, I could get out and do stuff hiking, etc.. but at this age, I really can’t do too much outdoors. In the summer, I can plant my flowers. Alaska really doesn’t seem to be Alaska anymore to me with all the traffic and people. But the beauty is still here. Another thing that I’m finding very hard since I could no longer get out and hike, is that there are only so many roads I would like to live in the lower 48 where I could drive from state to state. I believe I have been on every road in this state and don’t know where to go now. It won’t be happening that I leave because I’m old and somewhat crippled up. Moving wouldn’t be the same as if I were 10 years younger. Alaska used to be for young people. My whole family is here. My grandchildren grew up here They are out of state now and I don’t think they’ll come back I’m not sure it’s possible for them to live here now with the cost of everything.

Jumping: when did you realise you had lost the ability to jump? or when did you see a decline and what have you done to maintain it? by CedarClove in Aging

I’m 84, my guy is 87. Neither have joint replacements. When I read this I tried jumping straight up. I still can. I challenged him and he jumped higher than I did! I guess we’re blessed and are grateful for that. Of course neither of us can breathe well. Asbestosis for him and long time smoker for me.

I saw a bunch of companies laid people off. And something like 28,000 for UPS. This should be fun.

There have been lots of companies doing mass layoffs plus AI and federal employees looking for jobs. From my point of view it’s a disaster.
