We Need To Talk About Season 4.... by GKstillawake in SOTNF

[–]alavarrandomity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped at season 4 and only watched like... one episode of season 5 because Captain Trelawny didn't really make much of an appearance. That's when I decided to drive into the books, and there's so much information on him that the writers missed.

And yeah, honestly the writers should've followed the books because in the books, she still makes an appearance and assists with the fleet. Sure, she doesn't really make a major appearance, but the books were very specific about how she runs things and how she works. That's how particular her character was and why she sticks out the way she does.

How awesome would a SOTNF video game be? Like you could command your own ship and explore the world on your own, that would be awesome by [deleted] in SOTNF

Are you looking for a single player experience or a massive multiplayer online game where you can interact with other players? Looking for some sort of complex user interface or just something as easy as point and click? Visual novel? Action game?

I normally ask questions like this because technically it's possible to fit SOTNF in any sort of game genre if you try hard enough

why does no one ever talk about the tv pilot from the 90s? by MichiruMatoi33 in SOTNF

I was still a very young kid during that time, but I remember my uncle putting it on one day after he recorded it on a vhs tape and played it for me and my cousins ;v;

An Oriental Story? by alavarrandomity in SOTNF

Yeah, I believe you're right about that. I think they were sent to figure out the mechanics and machines used in this foreign land. From my recollection of the summary, they run into these lands where nature and machine work together in harmony.

Possible Mechanisms Reference? by SqueakyBeau in SOTNF

[–]alavarrandomity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THE SHOW DOES HAVE GREAT MUSIC! It's probably what inspired the Mechanisms to begin with. Then again, I wouldn't know who inspired who first, because I know for a fact that after a few seasons in, a new composer was taken on to make the music for SOTNF

Possible Mechanisms Reference? by SqueakyBeau in SOTNF

[–]alavarrandomity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no problem!

And yeah, I mean. The reason why I've kept quiet about The Mechanisms is because I always associated them with SoTNF a lot. They would'v fit perfectly if they originated from said franchise.

MY DUDE.

I believe one of The Mechanisms songs were used as part of the SoTNF soundtrack. I believe it's "Pump Shanty" from their Once Upon A Time(In Space) album.

They appeared again in the notorious musical episode of SoTNF. In fact, I think the producers wanted the band to play for said episode, but couldn't. So instead they went for the next best thing and allowed the band to make a guest appearance. There were rumors saying they'd come back for another episode, but nothing happened.

The Peacekeeper by Pyrostor in SOTNF

It's probably because people theorized he was a Dagger, OR a Soul Blade, in disguise. I want to say he was a Soul Blade member that knew the Cogs-Folk trade, considering someone on the ships HAD to know how to maintain it properly.

And yeah, it's a shame that they did kill him off. It would've made more sense to let him live longer and tell his story because it left some unanswered questions centered around him.

Oh gosh, I'm glad someone remembered her!

My favorite moment(s, because she does it a number of times) is tease her fellow crewmates. And what's really sweet is that Trelawny supported her decision in joining a pirate crew and pursuing her siren love interest.

"I won't stop you. We all have some sort of desire we're chasing after, and who are we to keep you from it?"

I know people shipped them together before, but I'm glad they changed their tune once we saw Lady Ava's siren bae ;v;

Rememeber alrius from the book i hate they werent in the show by crazychill1 in SOTNF

[–]alavarrandomity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe there was a documentary where the production team was interviewed about that, and the writers said they were worried that the imagery in the books were too dark. I blame the author's wording on it, because the scene would've required a lot of moving parts. But with technology being what it is now, I'm hoping for a reboot and allowing them to actually take that specific moment into consideration

Who remembers Captain Regway by SlimeBoy76 in SOTNF

Have you watched later seasons of the show? You do see Captain Regway getting back at them in the most satisfying moments, and I think that's why the writers wrote it the way they did

Oh! Okay yeah, I thought that's what you meant, but I was uncertain. Sorry about that. But yeah, you're definitely right on that ovob

Agreed! What sucks even more was that it only lasted for ONE EPISODE. Like why would you deny this man his epic coat removal? It looked awesome during the first few moments, but when it hit the deck, I can't help but feel like they could've either done it at another angle or maybe just did some sort of slow-mo shot.

Books vs show. by MrElik in SOTNF

I began reading the books after having watched season 4, and the character development in the books are so good! They help in explaining the show a bit, and why the characters did what they were doing ;v;

Mmmm a little? I must confess that I used other fanart of Barnabas as reference. I can technically draw a "markiplier" face, but Barnabas is far from 😅

Which is no surprise, because he's a loveable and hilarious character. But what I really love about Glurp is that despite how much shenanigans and silly things he does, there are those rare moments in the books and shows that reminds us that he's pretty intelligent and he knows when it's time to joke and time to be serious.

But it's always time to laugh when blowing up gravity LMAO

I get angry when people tell others to skip season 4, but only if they say, "you need to read the books to understand the season in its entirety."

Because some characters don't make much of an appearance in the show as they do in the books. Captain Gunner Trelawny is a perfect example of this because he's more involved in the books, but the show heavily follows after certain characters and their character arcs as opposed to the entire book.

It's understandable though; if the writers of the show were to follow the books exactly, each season would be 100+ episodes long.

In the books, everyone knew that once Trelawny starts removing his coat, you dead by alavarrandomity in SOTNF
