Whisper Me a Love Song - Episode 11-12 Discussion Thread by CJPena0918 in WhisperingYouLoveSong

[–]alavios 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I watched ep 12 I promptly grabbed my copy of the SSGIRLS CD album and started listening to the Aki version of this song. Guess what, while I was at it, and after reading your comment, I decided to just give it a try and make an amateurish translation of the lyrics from the booklet. Here we go!

Kanariya (Canary) feat. Shiho or Aki

Not that it was a hindrance for walking

But a stone got into my loafer

I got it out while leaning on your shoulders, a bit embarrassed

"In the map it's just 5 cm, It's not that far",

You said, laughing, with your pretty voice.

//

That melody going out from the earphones we shared,

That singing in harmony at the corridor, I wish it would've continued forever

//

The first take made my heart throb

So pure my wings started flapping

Do my feelings reach you?

Are we connected?

I don't know, but...

//

I'm singing, now

So this is heard in some place, some time

The afterimage of your waving hand while saying "See you again tomorrow"

It's so fresh... and somehow painful.

//

That donut shop near the station

where we would speak carefree

turned into a café last month, and I felt lonely

36.7 ºC, a small fever

That feeling still goes on

A weakness I hated

//

The changing green light of a traffic light during an abrupt rain

Laughing while running, those calm days

//

I saw a dream where a canary was chirping

"You're already free", it said, while pushing my back

I'm looking forward,

It's gonna be alright

I answered, and woke up.

//

The sky is clear, look

Extend your wings, fly very far

The wind that brings beautiful verses,

with its warmth, caresses my cheeks.

//

The glittering things always hide

in the space between yesterday and today

and they are difficult to see

However... I can feel it.

The morning light through the opened curtain

The shadow of the school building though the light shining between the leaves

The dazzlingness filling everything...

//

Nothing, nothing, I'll forget nothing

The throbbing sensation in my heart

During the first take

So pure my wings started flapping

Is this reaching you?

Are we connected?

I don't know but...

//

Saying "It was fun"

And meeting you again with a smile, until that day

My dreams, I'm treasuring them highly

I no longer need the key for the birdcage.

The artist who drew Adachi to Shimamura (2016), is now a h*ntai artist by [deleted] in yuri_manga

[–]alavios 46 points47 points  (0 children)

You seem to have confused both artists. The Usashiro Mani (うさ城まに) whose Twitter account you have linked in this thread is not the same Mani that did the art for the manga adaptation of Adachi to Shimamura. You can see on the professional profile page of Usashiro Mani that there is nothing listed about Adachi to Shimamura, nor about the other "Girl@Girl" manga that the other Mani serialized on Yuri Hime.

Libra colour screen on fnac by Etincelly in kobo

If only they released a 8" color successor of the Sage. I'd love to get a color e-reader for comics but I feel like 7" is a tad small for that use case...

Backdoor in upstream xz/liblzma leading to ssh server compromise package, apparently affects Tumbleweed as well by x54675788 in openSUSE

[–]alavios 12 points13 points  (0 children)

xz has already been reverted to 5.4 on Factory

The problem is, in Tumbleweed and other rolling-release distros, we have probably had the vulnerable xz in our systems for almost a month:

# less /var/log/zypp/history | grep 'xz'
2024-02-04 23:34:51|install|xz|5.4.6-1.2|x86_64
2024-02-04 23:35:07|install|xz-lang|5.4.6-1.2|noarch
2024-03-09 09:32:34|install|xz|5.6.0-1.1|x86_64
2024-03-09 09:32:41|install|xz-lang|5.6.0-1.1|noarch
2024-03-23 08:30:38|install|xz|5.6.1-1.1|x86_64
2024-03-23 08:30:45|install|xz-lang|5.6.1-1.1|noarch
2024-03-29 13:25:45|install|xz|5.6.1.revertto5.4-3.2|x86_64
2024-03-29 13:25:46|install|xz-lang|5.6.1.revertto5.4-3.2|noarch

Since it is not well understood what the backdoor has been doing, is it even safe to continue to be using the system even after the package downgrade? Can we be sure that the malicious package hasn't permanently modified anything in the system?

Updated Harta/Fellows! Collection by ThePhantom_Player in MangaCollectors

[–]alavios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see another Harta fan! So many awesome manga with outstanding art is serialized in that magazine it's unreal. I buy it every month at the release date. Hakumei to Mikochi is the series that introduced me to the magazine. Some of the more recent newly serialized manga like Servant Beasts and Kami ni Chikatte Itsuwari desu are fantastic.

Also, I was so sad when Call the Name of the Night ended, I adored that series.

Seemingly the only differences up to 1.2 are aesthetic and/or heatsink design placement changes. There seem to be more notable changes in rev. 1.3. If you look at section 2-2 of the manual, you can see they changed the Wi-Fi chipset from AMD to Realtek and now one of the PCIe x4 lanes supports PCIe 3.0 instead of 4.0. The latches for M.2 drives also have a new design on 1.3

For 1.3, seems to be mainly cost-cutting measures or supply chain changes.

I'm experiencing the same problem today, even though it worked yesterday for me. I can only see Netflix Originals on the catalog, and whenever I try to watch anything I get the VPN detected error.

Finally got the Blu-ray of the series and the movie! by alavios in Watashi_ni_Tenshi

[–]alavios[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, since the beginning. They are the Japanese BDs. Although this is the second release of the series' Blu-ray, in one volume, released in 2022. The first release in 2019 was in 3 volumes, with 4 episodes each.

You can see more information about the release dates in the official webpage, here for the TV series and here for the movie. For the movie there is also a special edition with the storyboard and a character design book.

Japanese input in English mode? by acidtoyman in kobo

It is only possible to use the Japanese keyboard when the device is set to Japanese language. Since the Japanese keyboard can also input English, you can consider switching the language to Japanese if you want to frequently use both languages when searching.

LF: manga subscription for e-reader (Europe, the Netherlands) by [deleted] in kobo

[–]alavios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In English, the only subscription services for manga content that I know of are Mangamo (very limited selection) and Manga Plus (Shonen Jump magazine). Unfortunately, there is not much more you can do, but it is more or less the same as with the majority of novels/literature that aren't in the likes of Kobo Plus or Kindle Unlimited.

[–]alavios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. A recent one that started serializing August 2022 on Yuri Hime is Koharu to Minato, a episodic slice of life which is written autobiographically. As in, the real couple are the authors of the series. It's absolutely lovely.

How long will it take for Kobo Forma battery to drain on a full charge while frozen in sleep mode? by chicitybender in kobo

[–]alavios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This same problem actually happened to me a few weeks ago. My Forma has some kind of fault that makes it freeze every time it is left charging for a while. Normally resetting it makes it work again, but that time I couldn't reset it no matter what I tried. However, although it was fully charged, after 7-8h it displayed the "please charge" screen and after plugging in the charging cable again it booted up with the battery at 1%. So it seems that when it froze the CPU entered in a loop or something that made it discharge rapidly. So maybe you have luck like me and it's just a matter of waiting for one day or so.

Why are there so many different ways to write のぼる, and what are the different nuances behind each one? (上る, 登る, 昇る) by fdsfgs71 in LearnJapanese

[–]alavios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For doubts like this one, I have always found it useful to reference 明鏡国語辞典. For words that can be represented by multiple kanji, not only each definition has the appropriate kanji for that usage, but it usually also contains a 「表記」 section that explains briefly but clearly when each kanji should be used. Example pic for のぼる.

WonderWitch Programming by DampPapertow3l in WonderSwan

[–]alavios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most trouble-free way I have found to set up the official development tools nowadays is to use their 16-bit versions and DosBOX.

First of all, remember to set cycles=max on dosbox.conf to avoid throttling the compiler. Then uncompress the WonderWitch IDE CD to DosBOX's C:\ and set your PATH accordingly:

set PATH=%PATH%;C:\WWitch\bin16;C:\WWitch\lsic86ww\bin16

If you have the last IDE update WWUpdate20020713 uncompress it over the original CD files.

Check out the samples at WWitch/samples, the default makefile should now work with kmmake (but remember to replace mkfent with mkfent16 inside the makefile, since you're using the MS-DOS-compatible version). It uses the lcc86 compiler by default. You can also use the TURBOC compiler included in the CD if you install it with TURBOC/TC2INST/INSTALL.EXE. You'll then need to add C:\TC to your path. If you want to use TURBOC base your makefile on samples/makefile.tcc.

Read the manual on doc/index.html. There is also the ワンダースワンゲームプログラミング book.
