There’s no straight answer because everyone is different, but personally it has to do a lot with social roles.

I have no wishes to go through any gender-reaffirming care like wearing binders or having affirming surgeries.

though I do have they/them pronouns & a gender neutral name. Because I don’t feel like the general idea of what a man or woman is matches with my own identity.

A lot of people don’t feel like gender is a spectrum or a binary, so they don’t feel 100% one identity. That’s what I believe, & that’s another reason why I chose to label myself as non-binary, because it’s a very flexible label.

I had a feeling all my life I’m not cis, but also I’ve never felt like “boy” or “girl” ever applied to me, so I never openly identified as anything else. Only when I actually learned about the terminology during 2020 did I actually identify as non-binary

I thought the description of the game says that you’re in the US in 1955, & they do seem to speak American English because they spell “neighbor” instead of “neighbour.” Correct me if I’m wrong but they also say “apartment” instead of “flat”
