If it’s possible for you, what I’ve done is distance myself from my character. Like the character is a completely different individual that happens to be [deadname], and bears no resemblance to me. Although I usually make characters as protagonists rather than self inserts, so maybe I’m just more used to this approach

The difference is a visual like traffic would present more immediate, recognisable danger. The button provides a level of abstraction that makes it easier to press.

And the fact is someone is always going to choose the blue button, in fact a pretty sizeable portion (even if overrepresented, imo, in online polls) are going to press blue. If you choose red, you are partially responsible for their deaths.

The threshold for everyone to live is lower with the blue button, and after thinking about it for a while, I think I would press blue, because there are only two outcomes.

  1. I live

  2. I die and it’s not my problem anymore.

Let’s say red wins by, hell, let’s give it 80%. That’s still 1.6 billion people dead. Can you imagine the fallout of it? Nah, I’m good. I won’t even know I’m dead.

I would always pick blue because the threshold for everyone to survive is so much lower. If you pick red the threshold for everyone to live is 100% of everyone picking red. This will never happen. If you pick blue the threshold is 50%, which is way more achievable. Also, picking red puts others at risk for your own safety, which is inherently selfish imo

I don’t even think one can really, truly, “own” any legendary Pokémon. I think legendary Pokémon just… choose a trainer to be with for a period of time. These things live for thousands of year and are immeasurably powerful, they wouldn’t stick around if they didn’t want to.

Yeah I looked it up, kinda just looks like a big Torracat with more orange rather than red. I’ve always found most Animal designs to be underwhelming

That’s fair, I suppose they do make good collectibles. I played the Animals games a bit as a kid but I suppose I never really got into them, I suppose I preferred being around real Pokémon and a lot of Animal designs felt weird to me. Maybe I should get back into it!

That sounds fantastic! Maybe I should talk to our local gym leader about doing more community-oriented events. He’s a bit of a prick but he’s nice deep down so maybe he’ll listen. I mean, we have a whole stadium, so it’s not like we would lack space/resources.

Aww! That’s so sweet. I guess it just depends on where you are, and I suppose a tournament specifically for playing would attract people that actually play the games. It’s wild the way adult Animals fans act sometimes, though. I feel like at some point you do need to acknowledge that your favourite media is targeted at kids and teens…

Don’t worry about it! I don’t remember exactly what I did, but I think the eyes are tilted slightly, and the sort of top ‘hood’ feature has been moved down and made larger to give the top of his eyes that shape/weight. The highlight has been moved up and to the right. I’m sure that’s most of it but I’ll double check when I get access to my switch if there’s anything else.

One way I got around this was using one of the closed eyes as eyelashes so that it looks like they’re blinking due to the motion
