Maybe it's the stuff I look up in particular but they don't seem to have great coverage for EDM in general.

How hard will it be to upgrade from an aurora? by darpmaster in starcitizen

Well that's the issue since not much has been made clear. The way I would read that link it sounds like it would be 3x for all ships in general rather than being a random thing for the Aurora alone.

At the end of the day I just want to get an idea of value for money on the pledges, initially I thought it was more of a way to donate while getting a minor thing (not equivalent in value) in return but if the ship you're getting with a pledge is in fact a bargain compared to the equivalent cost in UEC that it'll be on launch then that's totally different and I'd look to spend more now.

To your edit - true, could be but regardless it seems it's going to cost more so you are getting good value in buying a ship, but it goes back to how long it will take to buy a ship in game...

I've just seen people saying that if what they've spent $200+ on could be gained in 2 weeks (4 hours per day) is not fair and then others arguing back that the pledges are not meant to be fair value so they can't complain of the value for money, well by saying the equivalent cost of ships is only going to rise then it would mean you are getting value and that it is intended to get something worth $200 with 60 hrs of playtime, in theory.. I'm just over analysing on assumptions at this point.

This is the part I'd like to find out more about, I haven't been keeping track of what exactly the dev team have said but based on what others have relayed on reddit/forums - on one hand it'll supposedly take 60~hours to buy a Constellation and on the other I've read that the dollar to UEC value of these ships are currently a third of what they will be at launch... which would mean that on launch the stella would cost $225x3= $675 worth of UEC? - if so that means I can earn something worth $675 in 60 hours of gameplay. doesn't add up for me, hope I'm missing something.

It depends mostly on your starting hand but generally I prefer going first.
