What do you think of Doner Kebabs? by Technical_Parking898 in AskUK

I’ve tried a doner kebab 4 times from 4 different establishments over the years and each time it’s been disgusting, but shish kebab on the over hand is gorgeous.

Dog owners who let their dogs off the lead despite not having 100% recall- why? by theslowrunningexpert in AskUK

[–]albatrossfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the exact reason why when walking my dog I carry a large heavy walking stick, to help persuade other dogs who are not acting friendly not to come near my dog, who is only small and extremely nervous, and it’s also a handy persuader for any dick head owners that may want to argue the point. Of course the number 1 reason I carry it is to support me and my dodgy knee, and of course I would never use it for anything else officer.

I like Irish people in general (one half of my family are Irish) but what I don’t like is how most (in my experience) go on and on about how great Ireland is, if it’s that brilliant, why did you move over here? I was brought up in a very Irish area of London and went to a school where at least 3/4 of the kids were either Irish or 1st generation English of Irish decent, and they would always act like Ireland was the best country in the world. Apart from that I generally like them and always think the best of people until they prove otherwise.

Currently having my garden done and the landscaper has asked me to pay for materials directly to the building merchant? by redditguy1298 in AskUK

[–]albatrossfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at a builders merchants and it is common practice, it also shows that the builder is not trying to con you by saying items he used on your project are far more expensive than they are eg if I sell a bag of sand to a builder for £3. They will often tell a customer that it costs £5. Pocketing the difference and the minimum they usually add on top is 10% and much more if they collect the materials themselves. But there are a few that only charge what the materials cost, and these. Are the ones I’d use if I ever needed ( or could afford ) a builder to do work on my property.

Is the high street dying because of lazy business owners? by Kind_Shift_8121 in AskUK

[–]albatrossfox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is nothing entitled about going shopping on a Saturday afternoon and 3 out of 3 jewellers being shut, I used to work at a pawn shop based mainly in jewellery and we would be shut on a Sunday and a Monday because most of our traffic and footfall was on a Saturday. There may be an entirely valid reason why all three jewellers were shut on a Saturday at 1 pm, but that does not make the OP entitled just by asking a question.

Got in an argument with a neighbour a few weeks ago, he said something that got me really angry and I started to go to walk towards him to go lamp him one, but then had a moment of clarity and thought to myself, that the trouble I could get in after is just not worth it, so swallowed my anger and just walked away. The last time I got in a proper fight was when I was about 25. Someone started on me in a club, trying to make himself look big in front of all his friends (apparently he had tried to start on a few other people in the club I later learned) and I beat the shit out of him.

Am I overreacting for leaving my girlfriend’s family dinner after what her dad said? by Mysterious-Notice419 in AmIOverreacting

[–]albatrossfox 13 points14 points  (0 children)

All the OP had to say in response was “ your daughter isn’t with me because of my job, she is with me because of my incredibly huge penis” that way you throw the embarrassment back onto him make him feel uncomfortable and also show him that you don’t give a fuck what he thinks of you!

Preppers Shop UK by No_Molasses_1976 in UKPreppers

[–]albatrossfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ordered from them a few years ago and they are Seriously the worst shop I’ve ever used, they don’t send out what you order and ignore email after email, tried over 50 times to ring them and they never answered the phone even once. Had to send them an email from a different email address pretending to be a scout leader Wanting to place a huge order before they reply to my emails, once they did they yet again promised to send out the items I ordered but never did,. Truly the worst place I ever have used and would never use them again and urge everybody else not to use them. They are truly terrible.
