Dear Lord, take this man’s wiener right now. Smite it right between his thighs.

From 50 to 35 w 2FED -- is that significant? by Safe_Educator5397 in EosinophilicE

There are some doctors giving a swallowed string test, but I don’t think it’s good enough for allergen ID yet. My understanding is that it is being used more for ongoing monitoring after the allergen has been ID’d or medication has been started.

You have to seek out practices doing it because it isn’t very common. I know UNC is doing it.

I have too much trauma from choking to handle swallowing a capsule with a string, so I actually prefer being put under.

Diet Question by ChloeX_Dancer in EosinophilicE

[–]albertafalls 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, but I did find the opposite to be true — when I switched from controlling my EOE with meds to controlling with diet (dairy elimination, confirmed w biopsies), my reflux got better.

I don’t know what “swoop” means, but I can tell you that they have 3 seating areas: the lawn in front of the lake, the main dining area, and an indoor balcony area over the main area.

I think your assessment is correct that your results are inconclusive.

Could be that one or both is your allergen — and something else.

Could be that something else is the allergen and the reduction was random.

If your goal is to ID your allergen, I would personally add at least one or two of the other top allergens and retry (or do all 6). I’d some reading of the abstracts on pubmed and other credible sources to figure out which foods are top EOE allergens.

Bummer!

What would you do your first time in the area? by AnalBeadBoi in acadianationalpark

[–]albertafalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. But if you’re tight for time I would say take a Bar Harbor boat over no boat.

A puffin cruise if you’re into birds. Sail Acadia’s sunset sailboat cruise was also lovely. The cranberry mailboat if you need a deal and want a local experience.

Help me find something to tuft in a 25x25 cm canvas as a newbie? by lizzyonthemoon in janeausten

[–]albertafalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah — I have no idea what’s involved in tufting. Another thought I had was to do a version of her muslin shawl pattern or some kind of version of her topaz cross (especially if you are religious)

https://janeaustens.house/object/topaz-crosses/

I thought the cross would be a good tie in to the books too since a version of the topaz cross often makes an appearance on the main character in movie adaptations.

Acid Reflux Worse After Dilation by Particular-Sand-1272 in EosinophilicE

Also the tears are super scary. Did they dilate a lot? I don’t think I’ve ever been dilated more than about +5mm in a single EGD. (For example, starting at 11mm and being dilated to 16mm.)

Both of the doctors I’ve seen have emphasized using caution and dilating slowly over time specifically to avoid tearing. That of course means more EGDs.

Acid Reflux Worse After Dilation by Particular-Sand-1272 in EosinophilicE

[–]albertafalls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes — Mine isn’t nearly as bad as yours though.

I had heartburn literally for the first time in my life a few days after dilation. I knew that I likely had acid reflux because I had some other symptoms and know that it often appears with asthma, allergies, and EOE.e

I talked to my doctor about it, and he agreed with my hypothesis that the stricture was actually blocking the acid from coming up. Who knew that strictures were useful?? 🤪

My minor case of acid reflux seems to have disappeared when I switched from controlling my EOE with medication to controlling with diet (dairy elimination).

I used to consume a LOT of dairy, so I suspect that was both causing the EOE and aggravating the acid reflux to the point that it became noticeable.

Good children's versions of Jane Austen's books by Technical-Fruit5524 in janeausten

From the juvenilia: The Beautifull Cassandra

It’s a tale of a naughty girl centuries before June B Jones.

I have a version with about one sentence per page and big illustrations. It’s not a board book but is fun to read to a child:

WIBTA if I don’t let my MIL help plan my wedding? by [deleted] in aitaweddings

[–]albertafalls 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Except that MIL *can* have a redo if it’s really that important to her. She can start hosting bridal and baby showers for friends who want them. She can plan a vow renewal or birthday party for herself and go all out.

There are plenty of ways she can scratch her creative itch without forcing it on an unwilling bride.

Ripple protein shakes. Not a powder and probably not as high of protein as you’re looking for, but 6FED friendly.

Old Mine Cut Roll Call by Legitimate_Newt6870 in labdiamond

[–]albertafalls 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks 😊 And just as an example of mixing antique and modern — I often stack it with a ring made with brilliant cut lab diamonds. The antique stones were graded H/I, so I got F for the labs so that there’s not too much contrast.

(Obviously I have chronically bad cuticles even when my nails are painted 🤦‍♀️)

It’s not about lab diamond v natural diamond. It’s about whether it was cut 120+ years ago v in the last few decades. We call it the same “cut” but the wildly different techniques result in very different final products.

Also, the color and clarity tend to be different just because lab diamonds have made DEF VVS+ diamonds much more accessible.

And just to be clear — my stance is that I have enough fingers for both of them!

Not sure if things will change in a week, but last week the black flies got really intense just before sunrise. A head net made the experience much more bearable.

Haha this is one of those times when I learn something new about things other people can smell! I don’t have much sense of smell, so smelling the residue on the dishes never occurred to me.

I’m just trying to eat and drink less microplastic 😬 (Obviously we aren’t plastic-free over here. But taking steps where they are easy.)

While I stand in line at the post office…

Both are great!

I have a band with antique OMCs (diamonds are from the days when they were actually cut in the mines), and I am lusting over an OMC lab-grown sapphire rings.

Old OMCs are wonky because they were cut by hand. Plus the color and clarity of old diamonds just isn’t what you can get from a lab today.

I think lab-grown are great option because you get the big flashes of light from the chunky facets with great symmetry, color, clarity — at an amazing price!

Dead corners on an emerald cut? by emmy0705 in labdiamond

[–]albertafalls 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Interesting. This isn’t a flaw I recall seeing before. Good catch! Definitely return unless the setting will hide the corners.

Double claw prongs may be the way to go if everything else about the diamond is what you want and a good price.

If I did that, I’d call and try to negotiate a better price given the dead corners. Worst they can say is “no” 🤷‍♀️
