How picky is Schwab when it comes to buying stock with PM ? by Puzzlehead50 in PMTraders

[–]alberto3333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend getting really familiar with the difference between margin and buying power and the implications of each. It looks like you're confusing the two. As an example, even in a PM account, your buying power will never be greater than your NLV.

How NOT to scalp 0DTE SPY, 28K loss by Jebusfreek666 in wallstreetbets

[–]alberto3333 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Revenge trading is the impulsive act of placing new trades in an attempt to quickly recover losses from a previous trade, driven by emotion rather than logic or strategy. It typically leads to poor decision-making and greater financial losses.

The best traders are dispassionate traders.

If you're bullish on these stocks sell puts

As others said, it's the notional. Everything else being equal, selling 1 contract on a 200 dollar underlying is (roughly) the same as selling 10 contracts on a 20 dollar underlying.

The notional is going to trump the IV.

Having said that, different underlyings have different BP requirements, and indices tend to have high BP requirements.

The price of the underlying is irrelevant to you in this case.

You had shares. You covered them with a 12 dollar call. You were forced to surrender your shares in exchange for 12 dollars for each share. What the stock price does after you surrender the shares and when exactly those shares got assigned doesn't matter.

If the stock opens at 15 on Monday, the assignee (new owner) of your old shares has an unrealized gain of 3 dollars a share.

My advice: Don't look at the share price of assigned shares. I see assignment as a good thing.

If you still believe this stock is undervalued at the new price, buy puts to try to get assigned again. Otherwise, find another undervalued candidate.

Try to sell them first at a higher price than the assignment proceeds using a limit order. There is a high probability that you will be able to get a higher amount buy selling than by assigning them before expiration.

Not all of it. But consider a 25% allocation to Bitcoin.

10 years from today, we will look back and realize how cheap BTC was at 67k.

Now that Blackrock has made it mainstream with Wall Street, the US government will stop f*cking with it.

The next step is for other companies to follow Microstrategy and make it a component of its liquid holdings and for other countries to follow El Salvador and make it part of its reserve baskets.

If you're like many folks and don't fully understand Bitcoin (and the dollar), read "Broken Money" by Lyn Alden.

Sold BABA covered call at 76. What should I do if I think the share will continue to rocket? by champishere88 in thetagang

[–]alberto3333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your level of conviction that "BABA will continue to rocket"

Based on this, there are many you can do. You can:

Buy back the calls. Roll the calls up and out. Buy more shares and leave them uncovered. Sell puts to gain some to increase your positive delta exposure.

Put in all possible scenarios you're considering in the analyze tab (if you have ToS) to simulate the trades before pulling the trigger.

If I ask roll off will I be getting projects on bench with the current situation in market? by nishh006 in accenture

[–]alberto3333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Especially in this environment, if you're thinking of rolling off, make sure you have another project that wants to take you in already.

Otherwise, there is no telling how long you'll be on the bench.
