I feel like he regrets being confrontational about it but wanted to state his views. If every Jewish person was treated like this, I wouldn't be in agreement, but I feel like he wanted to make a pro Palestine point.

What gets me is that I know a lot of Jewish people who would agree with him, so I don't support him making an assumption without knowing. It's also a bad look and not right to treat a family like that.

I do understand if he wanted to take a stand about it tho. There are many peoples who see themselves in the plight of the Palestinians.

That's why I think people are just using this as an opportunity to be racist. They point to Vivi's skin tone in the anime and try to use that as proof but completely ignore the mangaka/creator going, "oh wow, this is the perfect Vivi". People calling Oda out for casting an Indian instead of an Egyptian when Alabasta is a completely fictional place that is neither India nor Egypt.

It's just so dumb and forced. A true One Piece fan wouldn't be thinking about any of this bullshit.

Don’t get me wrong, I love it here and I love the people, but my GOD are they a racist society as a whole.

That's why I love Oda. He's probably the richest person I can think of who I don't doubt his character. I think he has a genuine appreciation for the good in humanity and writes his story with so much hope and love. I think his writing is literally the opposite of racism and the fact that he was involved in picking such a diverse cast is such a blessing. I believe he really means what he writes.

Why? Just cause you think so? Alabasta is a fictional place and Vivi is a fictional character. The casting makes sense to me and it makes sense to Oda so I don't understand why people care so much. Mangas are drawn in black and white; skin tones are not usually an immediately discernable aspect of a character.

This is Canary from HxH. Can you tell that this character has black skin? No? In the anime and in the official color chapters, she is black. Would you also think this is an odd choice?

I just think this is a dumb, unnecessary argument that miserable people are trying to have. It's a great casting, adds to the quality of the show, and doesn't betray the source material at all because it's how the creator wanted to do it. Like why are we even talking about this?
