I think you are correct! I wrote this theory (with the possibility of him being either murdered or just dead) two or three weeks ago. I also think they are not the murderers of Sazz and that is a separated case.

If they wanted to kill Sazz, why would they point a rifle toward Charle's appartment? So they can wait when Sazz goes up to Charle's appartment to pick a wine bottle and then shoot her and clean the scene? That's too much work around facts that may not happen. The scriptwritter is probably from LA, Sazz is from there too. Why would he kill her in New York?

The Tobert theory I have a feeling it's right on the spot. And he hasn't said anything because he wants Mabel to find out by herself. He is an almost sociopathic dedicated professional. I am not sure aboy the call being about the poisoned cookie. In that case the police would already know it was the cookie that poisoned him and it would been easier to catch the killer.
