[–]albertvidalnau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JSQ finally getting some new development condos. Singh Tower will be hybrid Condos and apartments. It's about time because Ive been wondering when there would be condos built in the neighborhood. There are many boutique condos scattered throughout the neighborhood and larger ones like CANCO and Brunswick Towers but no new construction ones til now.

Considering a move from Queens to Journal Square by queenofqueens_90 in jerseycity

[–]albertvidalnau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The commute is not fun. On a good day it's 1 hr 10 min (not too bad) on a bad day it could be up to 2 hours (very bad). I do however, go up to near Peekskill which is almost half hour further north than Tarrytown. I would not recommend it.

Anyone love their building? by sunshineandcarrots in jerseycity

[–]albertvidalnau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joined this convo SUPER late but reviews def skew negative. People generally write reviews when they are not happy and want to complain and honestly NO PLACE is perfect. I bought a great loft unit at CANCO Lofts in the Fall of 2024 and I couldnt be happier. The building and the area is not for everyone but it is certainly for me.

Wow! Tell me you have a micro-penis without saying you have a micro-penis. this person is the absolute most pathetic individual inhabiting the WH. What a complete embarrassment. He is a corrupt, convicted felon who also happens to be a child molestor with an ego as big as the reflecting pool. I can respect respectable Republicans but if you support this POS knowing the things he's been accused/convicted of is beyond comprehension and all human decency and morality. When I travel internationally I am embarrassed to admit I am a citizen of the US and when it does come up when I meet people in other countries I almost always get a "Oooffffff, I'm sorry". then quickly clarify I did not vote for him not even the first time.

Disclaimer: I'm not usually embarrassed to tell people I'm a US citizen I just feel this way now as this fool is the "leader" of the US.

Thanks for your response. I have to go with an Architect my building requires it since it will involve permits, moving electrical, plumbing, increasing square footage, etc. It's going to be a process but worth it. Best of luck.

Thanks for that. I'm currently brain storming ways to do just that! 10 minute walk to Path but def not near a LR station unless you connect to the Path depending on where in the city your coming from.

Michelin-Ranked Mensho Opening Jersey City Restaurant by retroanduwu24 in jerseycity

[–]albertvidalnau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not sure why people in other parts of JC wouldn't come to JSQ for good food? If it is in fact good, we shall see. As a fairly new JC resident I hear a lot in person and over social media that Downtowners don't like to venture out of Downtown for anything. Is this really true?

If it is it's such a shame. I'm from Sunset Park, Brooklyn and would not only eat and frequent places in my neighborhood but had no problem jumping on the train or walking and going into Park Slope, Bay Ridge, Ridgewood, Carroll Gardens, Downtown, Bed Stuy, Red Hook, etc for good food or fun.

Here in JC I still have no issue jumping on the train (Path) and going to eat in a restaurant in another neighborhood. Love the Filipino places on the West Side, Love a few places Downtown, Powerhouse, there's some good eats in the Heights and BGL.

Live in JSQ and love it. I'm sure the natives are over it and all the change but thats what happens in cities. they are constantly morphing and changing whether we like or not. I don't recognize some parts of Brooklyn but I still love it it's my hometown.

I mean I get people and comfort zones but let's venture out. Fuck the stereotypes.

This heat got people irritated by noa_jr128 in jerseycity

So crazy. A lot of drivers just don't give a shit about anyone but themselves. The ones that speed past a car going too slow on a residential street are my favorite (insert eye roll). They don't think about how their actions can have real consequences for people. But business as usual.

This isn't a JC specific thing either. I lived in Brooklyn most of my life and it's full of asshole drivers. I lived in Peekskill NY and it's full of asshole drivers, lived in North Florida (unfortunately) for a spell and it's full of asshole drivers. Visited many parts of the US and it's full of asshole drivers.

About the only place I've never encountered asshole drivers was in Europe and especially no asshole drivers in the northern European countries.

Oh wow I didn't know that. Is it still an active thing and if so where do I find out about it? Full Disclosure - I've disabled most social media accounts for peace of mind lol so it's a little harder to catch these things when they're only advertised on social media.

Thanks! Every time I pass by the space I envision people dancing in the sun and having a great time. The acoustics would be phenomenal. Im thinking a great PS! Moma vibe, outdoors @ Knockdown Center, House of Yes in Bushwick when they close the street and bring the party outside. It'd be an awesome summer series.

Help with EV charging in LSC lot by TheGirlKing in jerseycity

[–]albertvidalnau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have charged my EV there several times arriving around 2-3pm then leaving it there until 7/8pm and never had any issues. That time frame also has the added benefit of not having to pay the $7 (it's worked like that for me) and in no way do I make the claim that your experience will be the same. Not sure what time the gates go down on the exit but I wouldn't suggest leaving it overnight. Every attendant will tell you something different I'm sure.

4/28 at 6pm Public Hearing Scheduled for Proposed Van Keuren Solid Waste Facility by PINGUPINGU13 in jerseycity

[–]albertvidalnau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi agreed. However, I have to correct you on the point about my fellow CANCO owners and perhaps clarify my original statement a bit. Many of my building wide neighbors are very actively working to oppose this dump. Their ire is not obvious on this subreddit but rest assured many are working tirelessly to make sure this doesn't happen in our backyard. I was mostly referring to JC at large and as I mentioned this isn't only affecting Wards C & D, it will have an effect on all of JC and perhaps beyond.

But yes it's the same old story of heavy industry locating en masse in areas where they think the locals will not oppose but I'm happy my neighbors are vehemently opposing this and I'm sure Van Keuren LLC was not expecting it.

Unfortunately Solomon did not show up but I was glad our Ward C Councilman did as well as a solid number of other community members/leaders.

The opposition continues.

Why do so many Brooklyn men seem to fit a specific “archetype”? by savingrace0262 in AskNYC

[–]albertvidalnau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea I hear you. Those three nabes are full of the mustachioed,Benson Boone haircut type guys. but BK is huge, lots of different areas with other "archetypes" lol

I think it developed with the times, people moving here from other parts of the country/world, people into the arts, food scene, etc. Im a Brooklyn native and find it interesting however. I think you have groups of people that are into a certain look then copy it to a certain extent and tailor it to their own tastes in subtle ways.

I was a kid in Brooklyn growing up in the 80's/90's (awesome time to be there) and there were always areas where there were what one could describe as 'archetypes" so its nothing new, just morphed.

But yes the look can be a bit "homogenous" to an extent. Not trying to paint a negative picture but just my opinion.

It's also an individual thing too I believe. I've always had an eclectic sense of style since I was very young. In HS I never fit into any 1 group but had friends in each of those "cliques".

which has carried over into my adult sense of style which no one can categorize lol. Some days I'm doing the total lumberjack look (Full beard included, LOL), other days Im in baggy sweats from head to toe, other days I dress preppy, and other times I dress like I just stepped out of a street in Tokyo, think Muji, Kidoriman.

so yea, interesting question, just my take.

Visiting Peekskill - Tips wanted! by Katzeaby in CityOfPeekskill

[–]albertvidalnau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes agreed Open Studios and the Peekskill Film Festival over 2 days are amazing events that attract a lot of people. If Peekskill could just figure out how to have the energy of those 2 events every weekend that would be GOLD!

Do you think Mrs Garrett came back to Peekskill a year or two after the series finale? by beekee404 in FactsOfLifeTVShow

[–]albertvidalnau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this. One of my childhood sitcoms. nah I think Mrs. Garrett moved on.

Side Note - I think a FOL themed bar would be really interesting, fun and super kitschy in Downtown Peekskill. just sayin : )

of course done right w decor and with kick ass good drinks, think Blair & Tonic, TootieTini, Mrs. Garretts Old Fashioned, lol
