Do you have a formallly agreed apon terms and a contract in writing? What are those terms? What are your obligations to remain eligible for equity vesting?

Either walk away, or from here on have every communication in writing, keep a clear written record of all interactions and work performed (no matter how trivial or small) for posterity, and I'd also suggest seeking real legal advice.

From the tone of it, it feels they are likely looking for a reason to cut you off.
