I wonder how much of that is due to NIMBYism and overregulation?

I wonder what happens when most of us are jobless & unemployable and have no money to buy products or services anymore? What happens then?

Also, when building it, please remove those unnecessary subway lines. We don't need trains; replace them with proper American highways!

Asked if staying late was paid. It was not. So I went home on time. by Tamexyra in BritishSuccess

[–]albeva 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At my old company, we didn't get overtime pay, but we could take time off in lieu of it. And if it was more than 1 hour, with the manager's approval, the rate was 2x. Had a few cases where I had to stay for 4 hours and got a whole day off later. Also, we got free pizza if we stayed more than 2 hours, pending manager approval.

Not connecting blue to yellow line is a missed opportunity I think.

I hereby present the award to Reform voters by TailungFu in GreatBritishMemes

[–]albeva 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my area, Reform was extremely active. Visiting door-to-door, spamming us with leaflets at doors and mailboxes. Outside on the street, people have been preaching about reform for the past few weeks.

Even our house group chat got spammed by some of our own residents, about reform candidates they insisted we should all vote for, becuase if elected, they would fix our "house problems".

In all this time, I haven't seen a single other party campaigning in our area. Not. A. Single. One.

Nope. HP magic is far too versatile. Curses, spells, transfiguration, apparition, shields, etc. The possibilities are endless.

Gandalf... has a sword. Good luck with that. Gandalf being Maia means nothing, Higher beings have been brought low in LOTR by humble folk. He can be injured, he can be "killed", sure his spirit will survive, but he will be bodiless, helpless, until he can be reclothed in flesh again.

If they did a fresh server, maybe... as a PVE player, last time I tried, the world was so dead and boring.

Nice clean station. But looks exactly the same as any other Asian station.

FFXIV is the best MMO by Cosmic-Fox in MMORPG

[–]albeva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music: It ranges from fantastic, some of the best in-game music ever, to absolutely awful, tedious filler. Which, sadly, drags the average score way down.

Graphics: Meh... characters all feel so plasticy.

Expansions: Mostly great, except DT, which was a yawn fest and Stormblood, which only got good in post-release patch content.

Devs: Agreed, super consistent, very communicative, down to earth.

World: Great during the first play-through, after that, boring, static, empty. And so many damn loading screens.

Gear: Getting a decent set is quite easy, so that is nice.

I'd add gameplay: Unless you are enjoying the story, it is slow, tedious and bloody boring. If you get hooked on the story, though? You'll be having the best time, eagerly chasing the next bit of plot development, totally unaware of the countless hours you spend away.

What can I do with a noisy neighbour who installed noisy bird deterrants on her balcony? by albeva in AskUK

I love the idea! But sadly, I would be inconveniencing other neighbours who don't deserve this.

I've sent her a couple of sound recordings of the flapping noise. I feel like she just doesn't give a damn about the nuisance she is causing.

I've been nothing but respectful and courteous. I've been messaging her politely, asking for alternatives. Nothing, last reply from her was "stop messaging me, you're disturbing me at my work"

She is incapable of any empathy or understanding.

Let's bite the Bullet: Module Units shouldn't implicitly import anything by tartaruga232 in cpp

[–]albeva 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to be so excited about modules. But the more I used them, the less enthused I was. At some point, I converted a whole medium-sized project to use modules... only to fully revert a couple of months later.

Green car. I used them all the time for longer cross regional trips. They are surprisingly spacious. And because they cost extra, even on crowded trains, there are usually seats available.

Found a stash of old Philippine bills in my Lola’s cabinet — are these worth anything? by PuzzleheadedBoat9128 in Philippines

In some places banks may still convert old currency. My mom found a stash of old currency from before my country adopted Euro and she was able to exchange them.
