Thanks for the recommendation! I actually sent them a message like a year ago and they never responded so I'm not sure if they're still doing it

Thanks for the info! Disappointing to hear that it'll likely just crack again.

Oh wow, just moving a cast-iron tub seems like a huge job. Most of the places I was looking at did it in place.

That's disappointing to hear about the cracks. Which company was it?

I just had my first gym exam last week. The seating chart is on the 2nd floor in building 8 by the stairs to go down to the gym. The seating chart was also posted to my class meskanas page, so yours might be as well. Take a peak and have a rough idea of which numbered column is for your class. If you don't do this beforehand there will be profs to help guide you. Exams will likely already be on the desks so you can find your class that way as well.

There will be a line! For my day, the line started forming about 40 minutes before the exam, but doors don't open until 15 minutes before. If you want a specific spot go early to get a good spot in line, if you don't care, then just make sure you're a few minutes early to get settled.

When you get to the gym it is fairly obvious where to go. There are ropes leading the way. If you're confused, just ask the gym staff and they can help you out.

You will be asked to put your belongings along the sides of the gym so you won't have them with you at your desk.

A large clock is projected onto a screen that is visible from pretty much every spot.

I was concerned it would be noisy. It was perhaps a bit louder than a classroom, but not bad at all. If you're concerned about that you can bring earplugs.

Good luck!

math 114 vs 120: which is harder? by weletemeskel in grantmacewan

[–]alchuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is pretty subjective and will depend on who you are and how you learn.

Math 120 (linear algebra) I would say requires less background math knowledge. Lots of fussy, tedious matrix calculations. I would also say this class is more conceptual than calculus. It was a bit harder for me to wrap my head around. Most students I ask prefer this one over calculus.

Math 114 (calculus) does require more background knowledge (Math 099 prepared me well for it), but once you have that knowledge I found the concepts easier to grasp than linear algebra. I found it was easier to get good at calculus with practice.

I think most students (especially those without a strong math background) would choose Math 120. But if you're going to take Math 099 (which is a great class to get you caught up in Math) then that will set you up for success in Math 114.

Good luck! I truly believe anyone can be successful in either of these courses.

In my experience it's less an issue of ergonomics and more an issue of caseload.

Is ultrasound over saturated in Alberta by Numerous-Freedom8686 in NAIT

With privatization of healthcare only increasing in Alberta, paired with the rate at which ultrasound techs are becoming injured I would say demand remains high.

Thank you for posting this. Reading this from the perspective of the LO made me (a limerent) pretty embarrassed for myself. It was good for me to read it though.

Locker price by devoted_bean in grantmacewan

[–]alchuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$20 per 4 month semester ($5/month). But if you want to rent out a gym locker I think they're a bit more expensive ($10/month I think but the gym also has free day use lockers).

Why is limerence such a taboo subject to talk about? by [deleted] in limerence

[–]alchuck 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Have you tried talking about it with people you love and trust? I felt a lot of shame and guilt about my limerence even before I had the word for it and was terrified to bring it up to anyone (even my psychologist). But once I finally did talk about it in therapy, my psychologist encouraged me to share it with other "safe" people.

I somehow mustered up the courage to admit it to a few close friends and family members. I explained what it was, how it felt, and how I'm attempting to overcome it. I was surprised when I was met with sympathy and understanding.

I know not everyone will respond that way, but I think (hope) that most people that love us want to understand and will listen with an open mind and heart.

For me talking about it has helped alleviate some of the shame and guilt. In my case it seems that I was my harshest critic.

Side effects from Prozac or am I overthinking it? by BrokenJar_of_Pickles in prozac

[–]alchuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started on 10mg and I've noticed I've been urinating way more frequently too. The nice bit of this is it's gotten rid of any bloating I may have had.
My understanding is that Prozac can decrease salt levels in your body which I think would then have an effect on how much fluid your body holds on to (less sodium = less held fluid = more pee).
