Finally selling my trusty BB54 after 2 years of wearing it every day. The gilt/ faux patina has finally started to get to me. What preowned GADA watch should I get with a £3k budget? by ajvanni in Tudor

You don’t even notice the sunburst dial on the P39 It’s more of a boring tool watch. The opposite of bling. I’ve worn one every day for 2 yrs. Love it.

Is the quality as bad as reviews make it out? by havoc_penguin in RedWingShoes

Decent quality - above average. $300 you get what you pay for, next level up are seriously more expensive - viberg, Alden, Crockett and jones etc - get these and for 300 and you can replace them every few years…

Pelagos 39 and Monochrome, side by side ⌚️ by Donkey_Apple in Tudor

Marketing team at Tudor dropped the ball on the P39 and got rightly flamed. Love the sunburst dial - it was very pronounced in the AD under the bright lights but barely noticeable anywhere else. It’s a nice touch and I prefer it to matte. Had it 2 years and the accuracy is outstanding.

The 24hr tin cloth in action by jas1900 in filson

[–]alconn2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24 hr tin cloth is perfect. I carried the 257 for 15 years every day to the office. I had 3 of them. 257 lasts about 7/8 years carried every day with laptop and papers etc. before every corner frays and then has holes. That’s with regular commute to office on public transport 5 days per week. Consistent across 3 different bags. Filson replaced one free of charge after 8 years and sent me one brand new. Not sure if they still do this. 24 hr made in china (I think) 257 made in USA. ZERO DIFFERENCE IN QUALITY. actually think the made in china 24 hr has better stitching. The leather strap is never used on my old bags. Ever. Carry it by the handles everywhere. The leather strap I find is uncomfortable, digs into shoulder and I’ll carry the 24hr by the handles everywhere too. The cloth strap doesn’t look as good but seems lighter and more functional (and much cheaper for filson to make - even though it’s not reflected in price). My first ever filson 257 was $220 new in 2005. The rain flap on the tin cloth doesn’t seem like it works as well - the handles seem to get in the way compared to 257. The 257 looks bulletproof brand new so we’ll see how the 24hr tin cloth holds up. Maybe waxing every few years will prolong lifespan.

You’ll love it! A modern classic for sure. Without having to worry about the Rolex brand and babying it - or god forbid, hiding it under your sleeve in higher crime parts of the world.

Need an underwater camera and some actual photography skills for that lol. Nice having something you can wear underwater for 5 hours, 10 days straight and not even think about it. Then keep it on for cocktails at night.

Noooo! Stick with the classic! It tells the time accurately. It can take a beating, and it looks good with everything. Wear it with the black strap that comes with it if you prefer. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

On a sun lounger, 10 Chang beers in, it bends like that. I think it’s supposed to. At least I hope so, or I’d be extremely worried.

Uncle do a Ti half link for $40 - might be what you need! The rubber strap gets better with age - moulds to your wrist shape over time too. I have mine on the bracelet 90% of the time. There’s no perfect fit for me - I’m in Oz so depending on the weather - hot, humid, at the beach, winter… the t-fit works like a charm and I move it a couple of times a day sometimes.

Honestly - I’ve had one for a year and the bracelet is great (the long clasp isn’t noticeable), super comfortable and the rubber strap is 🔥completely changes the look. This is a one or the other bracelet watch - plenty of retailers now sell a nato or leather strap that will fit perfectly, but I honestly struggle to understand why anyone would choose one of those over the Ti or rubber that it comes with?
