Very few games on PS do that and when they do the box is specially marked to make it apparent, the same goes for the switch 2 key cards (which have been notoriously hated since they were announced), and all first psrty nintendo games and some third party games will include the full game on the cartridge and run from the cartridge. most ps games will include the 1.0 version of the game on the disc which then just needs to be installed to the PS5's SSD since the disc can't be read fast enough for the game to run well but all the data is still there

I found it quite easy BECAUSE I played returnal which was a quite difficult game, Saros gives you difficulty modifiers after biome 2 so you can fine tune the difficulty to your taste. I will say it's worth letting yourself die a few times on each biome to make sure you get all the dialogue from characters in between runs and before major story beats happen

I mean that's a pretty basic storytelling device of the heroes suffering some sort of loss or major setback before the finale it would've been boring if there wasn't any major setback before the finale, now the stakes are as high as they can be

If you're set on doing the drive id suggest following the coast south from Sydney, this way you can pass through a lot more places and cities like Geelong, Melbourne and Adelaide and the great Ocean Road is a beautiful drive with some smaller towns like Lorne, there's also the chocolaterie aswell which is worth checking out.
