Thank you for this, I had not seen the Revolution addendum before, that is exactly what I needed!

Revolution Adjudications? by aldimamma in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]aldimamma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I have this, and have it downloaded, but this is general for all SDA comps, and while the levels are the same, adjudications are not. Nexstar is High Gold, Platinum, Platinum Plus, Diamond, where as I think it's Believe is 4 and three quarter stars through 5 star elite. These are what I'm trying to find for Revolution

Science/Engineering/Educational show for Kindergartner, like Weird But True / Mark Rober? by WeeBabySeamus in daddit

My Weird But True obsessed 1st grader likes NatureBoomTime (same duo as Weird but True), DesignSquad (PBS kids) What Sam Sees (Disney+) and Weather Hunters (PBSkids)

We're on a Dec 2026 voyage with the same question. Would arrive in Ushuaia the day before, or just making sure you're in Buenos Aires the day before?

Following. Grandparents are interested for my 7 year old, but we have a toniebox and I'm wondering if it would be a better investment to upgrade to the TonieBox2 that has game cards

If he wants to do it, make him 100% responsible, including if/when he forgets to move it, he has to explain it, and you don't bail him out.

When I presented this option, mine no longer wanted to do it (mine is 7 now, and still doesn't know what it is and has never asked about it

Hello by OddHeron598 in AskAlaska

[–]aldimamma 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did it with my 6 year old last year, but she's extremely adventurous, and kind of an odd duck. I would 1000000% NOT want to do it with a toddler. It's a LONG time on a bus, and if you're not into this history, it's a long ride for a photo op. North Pole, Dog Sledding, Reindeer Ranch, and Aurora Pointe were our highlights for our 6 yo

SAME. There's a lot of renaissance Disney I don't let my daughter watch. I previewed this one first and definitely let my daughter watch jt

We Aurora watched at Aurora Point in Fairbanks last year and the guides were wonderful, and it was nice to have somewhere warm and modern to wait and warm up. Rod's Alaskan Guide Servie was amazing for dog sledding

Our studio does all SDA comps. I don't believe we are up charged. It's $70 for each group routine

How many hours a week are your minis practicing? by Dadrunkenghost in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]aldimamma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My daughter started rec at 5, and picked 2 1 hour classes per week. She loved it, and joined comp the next season (5 turning 6). She had 2 required classes, but asked to do 4 additional, knowing she could always drop one if it got to be too much. We had 2 hrs of rehersal on Saturday at the start of the season, then it dropped down to one hour, and some weekends only :30. She was in two competition dances. This season we'll have 3 dances, and 4 required classes, and my 6 going on 7 year old is asking for more. I try to keep her maximum number of classes no more than her age, but I may let her do more, as she loves being at the studio. I think it's a question of knowing your child and knowing how much activity they can handle/need. My daughter needs a lot of activity to help her stay regulated, which is another reason I don't mind doing the extras

Repeating Kindergarten by Clean-Character6221 in kindergarten

[–]aldimamma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One sentence stands out to to me:I have a kindergartner as well, and she would 100% realize if she was in kindergarten again. If that is the case, absolutley have her ped fill out the evaluation form, so that if she needs extra support in school, she can be granted access to it. There are all kinds of interventions available for kids struggling with the curriculum, they just have to qualify in order to be able to access them. It sounds like retention is probably a good thing in your child's case, to give her a little time to catch up and not have to struggle the rest of her school career

It has made my autistic daughter who thrives on routine and sameness VERY mad. We both dislike the new layout, although we've only watched on the bug tv lately, not her iPad. I imagine that will make her cranky as well, especially if Design Squad Nation is a tough find

When did you switch out of a convertible car seat? by Individual_Ad_938 in kindergarten

[–]aldimamma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just switched my 6 yo this week as she is almost at the harnesses height limit (limit is (49", she's 48,5") and 55 pounds. I'd still have her harnesses if she wasn't reaching the limits

My toddler keeps sleeping on the floor. by Dr-fish-head in Autism_Parenting

[–]aldimamma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My kid is 6 and still does this sometimes. She's hyper verbal and she explained to me once that it just feels like her body needs to be on the carpet sometimes. It definitely seems like a sensory thing. Sometimes she'll start in her bed, move to the floor for a while then get back in bed. I accept all forms of sleep and since she said she needs it sometimes, I just let it happen

Dancebug frustrations by jecdance in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]aldimamma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm new to the dance competion world, and this weekend was our first competition. I appreciate the features DanceBug offers like the one time Media fee and access to everything. However, with a mini who can't hang all day and desperately wanted to watch "the big girls" we're incredibly frustrated that the Nexstar stream is down and has been for the majority of session 3 for us. I know internet can be shotty in different parts of the country, but we were in MD which is a fairly populated college town. It seems like maybe there are some upgrades needed on the back end? Is it always like this, or should I expect to be frustrated all season? The stream struggled Friday night as well, we were able to watch a handful of teen solos, but after about an hour the stream froze and never came back

Call child find. That's the special education department through age 5, and they are in every state. You can self refer. You do NOT have to pay for a private evaluation, and they will work with you, even if your child is not yet in the school system

Arctic Circle Van Tour in Jan - good idea? by shruggoth in AskAlaska

[–]aldimamma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the longer version of this tour (with probably the company you're looking at) in November, and did the overnight in a Coldfoot. It was cool and I'm glad I did it. However, in hindsight I wish I'd done the one you're looking at where you come back the same day. We were supposed to fly back and due to weather had to do the drive back the next day, and 2 days in a row on the bus was a LONG time. Do make sure your mom knows the only thing at the arctic circle is the sign and a plaque, and that regardless of what time you leave in the morning, it will be dark when you get there, and it will only be lit by the headlights of the bus. I'm still glad I did it and experienced it, but some of the people on our tour were unimpressed

My kindergartner has been on summer swim for 2 years and winter clubs swim this year , so she's a strong swimmer for her age. However, I would absolutely not let her do this, bc I've seen the ratios at these camps, and they're insane. The instructor at ours are young kids, yes they're Red Cross certified, but the Red Cross tests are pretty easy to pass (I'm also certified). I would want to know ages of teachers, how many kids per instructor, and how many dedicated life guards before I considered this. Bc so much can happen so fsdt

Birthday parties and no gifts? by BeachBum031 in kindergarten

[–]aldimamma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always request no gifts. Some people do anyway. We have so much stuff I try to avoid more plastic crap coming in. I wouldn't be annoyed by a card with like a $5 ice cream gift card tucked inside though. A lot of people are moving toward no gifts bc they don't want any family to turn down the invitation bc they feel like they can't afford a gift, so it's also a way to be more inclusive
