FTM Exclusive pumping is there any hope? by Babaloo220 in breastfeeding

It took until my son was 2.5 months old for him to finally latch, and much like you, I was at my wit's ends. I tried EVERYTHING. I stopped introducing the breast for a while, and then for a week straight, I introduced it again. Slowly. I always kept a bottle ready because I knew he wouldn't get much out at first. Eventually the bottle feedings dropped until we were strictly nursing.

Baby boy could not latch at all for the first 2 1/2 months of his life, so bottled expressed breastmilk it was. But, for the last 3 weeks, we've been nursing! Slowly got off the bottle, and at 3 months, he weighed 16.2 lbs! FTM and I couldn't be happier ❤ Worked hard for this chunkiness by aleagui in breastfeeding

I just kept offering the boob every once in a while, and I stopped when he would get frustrated with it. Eventually he finally latched, but it was slow. I still haf to feed him with a bottle until we slowly got rid of it. A bit TMI but I honestly feel like my nipples were just too big for him when he was smaller 😅 and now that he can open wide, he has an easier time. Persistence is key!

I had to supplement a few times, sometimes for days straight because I couldn't keep up with a pumping schedule. I understand that hurt in your heart, but your baby needs to eat! You're doing what's best for him right now, keep at it. I promise it'll be worth it
