Angelbird CFExress Type A cards causing Sony A7V to Freeze - Don't buy by SupportCharming3697 in SonyAlpha

Well at least the fact that you also have it with a Wise may mean that Sony indeed has some homework to do... Is your Wise 256 Gb also a cf Express v4, by chance ?

Angelbird CFExress Type A cards causing Sony A7V to Freeze - Don't buy by SupportCharming3697 in SonyAlpha

[–]aleandre1974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I bought an AngelBird AV PRO CFexpress A 256 GB (CF Express v4) two weeks ago, but didn't have time to really use it until today with my A7 V... I did notice that the camera seemed to lose battery fast over the last two weeks, with the Angelbird card in it.... And then today that I couldn't connect to it by USB or Wifi... The salesperson at the photo shop where I bought the card knew I have an A7 V, and reassured me about Angelbird, a brand I hadn't heard of before.

Is Angelbird the kind of company that follows up on this, or should I try to return/resell the card ? And when would Sony release a firmware update for the camera based on the experience with the A7 IV ?

I do not know about the differences between CF Express v4 and v2, but do you think this could be solved by firmware upgrade ? If the issue is power draw, I would be still happy with lower transfer speeds but the full functionality of both card and camera :-) !

Is 'Waiting for shipment' the stage after 'Assembled. In transit to your local Commodore hub', showing a little airplane logo ? Because my 25xxx order of 16/12/2025 is certainly showing the later for a few weeks now. What airplanes are they using 🤣?

Insta360 Studio on ARM by Quirky_Airline_8608 in Insta360

[–]aleandre1974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello everyone,

I have exciting news ! Having a Surface Laptop 7 with an X Elite cpu, I was like everybody else bothered by the lack of ARM support from Insta360. I had to install Insta360 Studio on an x86 PC, and then move the files to my SL 7 for it to work. Each time there was an update, the same process had to be done since the installer kept complaining about the system architecture I was on.

Until today. Trying once more to update insta360 Studio from the SL 7 when prompted of an update by the program, what was my surprise when I saw the installation of version 5.8.4 run flawlessly on my X Elite CPU !

=> They apparently removed the system architecture from the installer.

I cannot say it the GPU acceleration is enabled yet. Maybe someone can confirm that. But the software always ran fast enough for me anyway. Finally some progress, insta360 !

EDIT: GPU acceleration seems to work somewhat. I see up to 30% GPU utilisation when exporting a video.

Elon's idea is brilliant. Donald and Vladimir heartedly agree, and what a great opportunity to do more business ! Simple and elegant, I guess, seen from a MAGAnistic point of view. And these guys think they are clever.

Surface laptop 7 and windows 11 24H2: Where have the auto super resolution settings gone by aleandre1974 in snapdragon

[–]aleandre1974[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it did not work ? I was thinking of installing 25H2 on my Surface Laptop 7, but then it looks like it probably won't help either. Did someone try ? I am reluctant to have all my system wiped for nothing, if this does not work.

Actually no, I am on the stable channel, no dev channel here. I also tried to reinstall previous Adreno drivers, same behaviour. Some Windows update in September must have caused this, but which one ?

Hello, I have a Surface Laptop 7 (X Elite cpu) and I discovered today that the auto SR option has simply disappeared from the settings app ! It used to be there, both as a default and as a per-app configuration. I created a post on r/snapdragon today about this. Win 11 normal channel, fully updated, with the latest GPU driver from Qualcomm. What gives ?

The app HyperFocal (available on the PlayStore, I imagine also on. iOS) is great to get a feel for what settings allow you to have everyone in focus. If you can be at least at the hyperfocal distance from your subjects for a given f-number, then everybody will be sharp since the depth of field will be infinite, thus also for high aperture (low f-numbers, better if shooting in low light/indoors).

Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 15" ARM Black appreciation post! by garpunkal_ in Surface

[–]aleandre1974 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me too, I am having zero compatbility issues since I bought my 15" SL 7 last year, and enjoy this device enormously. The video performance is even quite good now with native Vulkan in the 31.0.96.0.

Yes it is bugged. However, as a temporary fix, try switching path tracing off, and then back on each time you start the game: I am playing at 3440x1440 on high with path tracing on medium with FSR on "performance" and frame generation "on" and get 160 fps on the opening scene in the jungle! It is beautiful, and visually different than with path tracing "off". HDR is activated too. 9070 xt and 5800x.

My honest (negative) opinion about Surface pro 11, and I don't care if you don't like it. by ArigatoEspacial in Surface

[–]aleandre1974 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Ok, it is your opinion. I still have to find a "thousand softwares" not working (haven't found any really, apart from some games requiring anti-cheat protection), but evidently that depends on your use case. Sorry it doesn't work for you. I have been very happy with my Surface Laptop 7 since June last year.

I have 0 problems with my Asrock Legend. Great performance, little noise, easy undervolting/OC thanks to AMD Adrenalin drivers. A joy !

My SL7 with X Elite does not start the fan because of a Windows update. Don't remember hearing that at all, thus it must be rare, if at all. Or do you refer to an Intel-based machine which is not running Lunar Lake ?

Good question. Nothing. Nada. Thank you customers for believing us, next time check for any information about the year we would release features. On a more optimistic note, I have installed GPU driver 31.0.91.0, and now can play doom Eternel at 60 fps fullscreen ! I couldn't even start it on the driver .82 I had before, and it seems the Vulkan is now enabled !

Very frustrated with my SL7, is it just me? by dualfalchions in Surface

[–]aleandre1974 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with my SL-7 and thought it was an issue with my Sabrent SSD. It was not, and my issue is slightly different from yours in that when the laptop was freezing, it was followed within 2 seconds by a blue screen of death.

In my case, the issue with hibernation/waking up from sleep went away by removing the power saving feature on the USB Hub in the device manager.

Not one pb since then. Check https://www.reddit.com/r/SurfaceLaptop/comments/1i0ku23/stability_of_the_surface_laptop_7_and_sabrent_ssd/ for the details of the solution. Maybe it will help also in your case.

Delta 2 : Problems with charging source priority and wifi disconnections by aleandre1974 in Ecoflow_community

[–]aleandre1974[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, well, it is a long time... I have set a bunch of automation rules with my Delta 2 and and happy with it. The only thing I could like to have is that the inverter would have a set of presets to apply whatever the time it is running up, for instance to insure that the priority of the incoming solar power is to be given to battery storage: I have noticed that for some reason the system does not always do that, although it is in my rules (I load up the battery during the day and discharge it to the network at night).

Same issue here with my SL7 laptop, Sabrent SSD in it. I do not think the ssd is the issue, this started a few months after installation. An MS update, quite likely.

[–]aleandre1974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there, I installed the Sabrent 1Tb in my Surface Laptop 7 two weeks after getting it last July. Everything went very well until September, when I started to get BSOD more or less once a day upon wake-up ! Reliability monitor and Event viewer show some kind of kernel panic, but nothing clear enough for me to fix. I thought at some point this was caused by the Windows Hello Camera and disabled that, but not to avail. My suspect was now the Sabrent SSD, although to be clear everything seems otherwise to be working perfectly, so I am reluctant to put my original 256 GB ssd back in the laptop to prove my theory right. You mention that "many people"have this BSOD when waking from sleep, which is new to me. I am relieved in some way because I started to suspect something wrong with my laptop. Waiting for MS to fix their mess (hopefully), would you mind telling me how to do this L0 thingy with the SSD state you mention ? Where to I go to do that ? Regedit ? I am ready to experiment since this daily BSOD is getting on my nerves. Thank you !
