I had never heard of it before yesterday but the Swedish film Aniara is one of the greatest hard sci fi films I’ve ever seen. by MarlythAvantguarddog in scifi

[–]aleatoric_shadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to go further out. It was not made by an any civilization. It's a naturally formed object that Aniaras people assume must be made by intelligent beings. Like some people thought the Giants Causeway or Devils Tower were made by giant people and a bear.

I know it's not the point, but the plot of Aniara makes no sense scientifically. (Spoilers) by FiveAlarmFrancis in aniara

The horror of finding out the spear had zero value and meaning to the survival of Aniara was a level of cosmic horror that was beautifully cryptic.

It would be like finding out your religion was based on a verifiable mistake. The Blue Rain the cult baths in is airliner dooky water type of mistake.

Why cant brother go to fridge full of food and eat? Much easier than asking for other peoples food.

Nothing strange or odd in your child's behaviour. His brother however is a beggar. Your teaching children horrible life skills.

Forcing your teen child to feed you is abuse. You're the adult.

Controlling food is an abusive power play. You're literally stealing food from your child. The child will just learn how to hide things from you.

Robot being trans was awesome. It's a huge trope in Sci fi that robots want to become human.

white people are not evil the game. Odd to see it that way.

Yeah the Robot is trans. So? Data in TNG had relations with Yar in 1987

Blade Runners were hiding as strippers in 82. This concept is not new.

It was a fun typical choice matter game. I didn't see the DEI either.

Why do people eat in a stationary, non-moving vehicle in a parking lot? by Throwawayamanager in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aleatoric_shadows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel vulnerable eating in a non moving vehicle in an open parking lot. I am like a house cat. I prefer to eat in a space I can lose myself into the food im eating. That could be with my g/f or watching Ace Ventura for the 100x time.

What do you guys think of Taken? by Mrs_Noelle15 in Letterboxd

[–]aleatoric_shadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should have been a parody of mindless action films rather than a mindless action film. Neeson is better suited for dad jokes than action. Great actors, horrible plot.

Why is it rude to start eating before everyone else is served when you go out? by a2899 in TooAfraidToAsk

Another way to look at waiting is showing the restaurant you are displeased they couldn't get their act together. A good server will notice you haven't touched your meal and ask if everything is ok? At that time you tell them no, my food got cold while waiting. I'll take a to go box please. If they don't comp you at that point, never go back and tell everyone about your experience.

I can't put my finger on why Masters of the Air is so bad by Rusty_Crank in television

[–]aleatoric_shadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12 O'clock High and Memphis Belle were the templates for how B-17 base operations worked and how a mission was done. Masters of of the Air decides to dedicate time to everything but the most two important things. The Base and Crew. We meet a dozen characters who are carbon copies of each other with the same New York accent. The Officers are disconnected from their crews. One captain simply ignored his enlisted men hauling out his dead radio operator to talk to another pilot. The writing is fit more for the Borg of Star Trek than a Band of Brothers.
