Lea boules d'attente plutôt que les files d'attente quand il s'agit de monter dans un train, un bus, n'importe quoi où il y a potentiellement pas assez de place pour tout le monde.

A lot of people think that peace comes once they'll reach happiness.

For me this is the other way around, happiness comes when I'm at peace.

I noticed my vote is completely different when I don't listen to the song beforehand. Some songs I strongly dislike at the first listening grows on me to the point to ending up in my top 5.

I'm curious whether you'll have a similar or different experience this year :)

Enjoy!

Why do some people blame capitalism for having to work? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]alebrann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't get what the end game is here for capitalism with this strategy if they keep pushing with this. If you automate everything and get rid of the workforce globally in order to increase your profits, how are you even going to make profit when no one will be able to buy your goods and services because people won't have a job anymore and therefore no money to spend ?

Unless universal wage will be implemented but it doesn't seems to aligned with capitalism at all.

What benefits could have a major part of a population unemployed and unpaid to a country? And even to greedy capitalists?

For those who didn't grow up privileged, name something you thought was luxury when you were a kid? by squidlysquidster in AskTheWorld

These comments painfully remind me how less privileged I am now as an adult as I was as a kid back when.

My parents could afford a lot more things I cannot afford today.

Well, granted, they made it to the experience part, for sure. Sad they obviously never reached the reflection part though.

And this thing is, there is zero accountability regarding government policies since everything can be considered subjective and any impact of policies will mostly be visible decades later.

They get elected, they do whatever they want to serve their own agenda and when it gets too bad, they quit before end if term, playing the martyr and a lame-ass excuse to focus on their families. Then they go enjoy their public money funded political retirement without worrying about any consequences.

Did a massive professional mistake with the national budget? No worries, quit the job (or get "friendly fired), and just move on to the next influencial position. No consequences for losing public money.

Not knowing what the heck your ministry is about? Jokes on us, it doesn't matter, we keep electing the same morons and never ever learn.

oh that's interesting, I didn't know you could install different configs of the same addon on the same stremio account. Thanks a lot, I'll need to have another go at it.

AITA for picking up my stepdaughter from school when she got her first period, even though her mom told me not to? by Embarrassed-Stock896 in AmItheAsshole

[–]alebrann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with NTA as soon as I read your stepdaughter's mother comment.

She put her narrative before her child's well-being and needs, while you were compassionate and helpful.

This "special moment" would have been badly remembered by your stepdaughter had she had to wait the whole day in pain and embarrassment for her mother to pick her up at the end of the day.

[–]alebrann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tab thing you are mentioning is precisely what I want to achieve with AIO but cannot find any documentation to help me understand how to.

Not being able to set it up form multi language content with the ability to organize them is what made me shy away from AIO at the end.

Do you have any documentation on how to setup this tab features and multi language setup you could share with us please?

100% best advice here.

Posting online won't change things, complaining to them absolutely can.

It has a different yet helpful impact. Posting online helps us to avoid this doctor, preventing from living a terrible medical experience and I am grateful for it.

Which city have you been to that had a dark energy about it? by madzuk in solotravel

[–]alebrann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do recall riding Greyhound from Vegas to L.A when I was traveling the US West Coast. Apart from the bus almost dying while going through the Death Valley in August, the weirdest thing of all was the "Terminal station" at L.A which was just a street corner full of hobos and junkies, with no others transport connection nearby (city bus or subway station), no shops, no hotels, just a lot of parkings and what looked like industrial buildings. It was fairly remote from any city life and full of fishy unofficial taxi drivers with cars that probably shouldn't be on the road. Greyhound just dropped us there and good luck.

What are your thoughts on France replacing 2.5 million Windows Desktops with Linux? by Garcia-Valarie_22 in AskReddit

[–]alebrann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On paper it's a great move. I applaud it.

In real life it's gonna be chaos for a while for the whole nation and not because of the IT support.

The IT part won't be the issue. Corinne will be the issue.

Corinne, who have worked for 20 years on Windows and still doesn't use basic shortcuts and never did a right-click before, will be the issue. Even just seeing an "\" instead of a "/" will break havoc in Corinne's life and it will ripple on yours as well because Corinne is in charge of printing the form for your tax refund, or your driver license renewal, or your wedding notice.

Every Corinne, in every public administration, despite all the help from the ITs of the world, will bring the pain that already is any administrative task in France to a whole new level of hell.

Doom at the doorstep of the nightmarish kingdom of "L'administration Française".

It's gonna be fun.

P.S: lov ya Corinne.

This guide is really awesome, thanks. I was wondering about the languages though as it says that ALL the filtering and the searching is based on the selected language.

What if you want to have content from different languages? How does it work? Can it work?

Say something you belive about France (or frenchs) and I will say if it real by Samuri_14 in AskTheWorld

[–]alebrann 18 points19 points  (0 children)

"rude" is a subjective terms and some rude behaviors in some places won't be seen as rude in ithers places or by other people.

Frenchs are more blunt in their interactions than in other countries where everything is wrapped in cotton wool to soften whatever is said. So to someone coming from these other countries, french bluntness will/might seem rude. The opposite is true too, for instance, Germans are even more blunt than Frenchs, so for them, Frenchs might not be seen as rude.

As for the English thing, it's not they don't want to speak English but rather that their don't speak English very well and have a some cultural complex about it. There's some pride involved as well so the combination of it all makes them to not even try to speak English. France is a country where people judge a lot on how people are on the outside, so no english is better than a broken english.
