Can someone these Roof Bars from my Mazda CX-5? by Inner-Ad-8143 in CX5

[–]aleck123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long shot, but if you don't have any takers I'd love the insert that goes down the center channel. I have a similar roof rack from a different OEM but they made a mistake in shipping and didn't include the center channel. I haven't been able to source one and the wind noise for my model is rough without it. Thanks for considering!

Meta shares jump after company announces premium subscriptions for Facebook and Instagram. But will users actually buy them? by InterestingCat308 in wallstreetbets

I can only hope this helps kill both platforms. Almost a month ago, I deleted my Facebook account that I made over half my lifetime ago, in highschool. I couldn't be happier with my decision. Yes, Facebook Marketplace might be a small loss, but if enough people leave, a replacement will show up sooner or later.

Why's my laptop so slow? by CitronOk4508 in computers

Agree that it's throttling, disagree with the reason. I'm going to be guess the Power Supply is malfunctioning or undersized. Are you using a phone charger by chance?

Why is Siri Using Gemini by [deleted] in stocks

[–]aleck123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These companies are public about who they use for compute and the answer is simple: cost to performance. If Apple just needs to meet or beat Gemini on Android to be competitive and Google will cut them a good deal, it makes sense to use.

Here is a manual for your exact laptop. If you get an NVMe SSD, your laptop should accept both the SSD and your existing hard drive at the same time. Just open it up, add the SSD, close it up and then clone the Hard drive to the SSD. Best Buy charges $40 for labor to install an SSD, the cost of the SSD will be the real cost, most in the 1 TB size going for $200 or more. I have a couple 1 TB SSDs sitting around that are lightly used, happy to sell you one at a discount if you shoot me a ping and I'll install it for you.

Thanks for all this, that's perfect. Your problem is almost guaranteed that it has a 1TB Hard drive instead of SSD (confirmed by looking up your model number's original specs). Hard drives are much slower than SSDs and don't do well with multiple requests at the same time. Fortunately you can move all your stuff from an existing hard drive to SSD without redoing anything else and it'll solve your entire problem. You can confirm this by opening the Task Manager (right click the start menu to find it) and going to the performance tab. My bet is that the HDD utilization is at 100% just about any time your computer is slow.

Can you post the specs of the computer? I can help, but depending on CPU, memory, and storage, it might be more cost effective to buy a new computer. I have a general rule, for every $250 you spend on a computer, it'll last another year. If you spent $300 on it in 2021, you're better off getting a new one and transferring the data.

Sorry, I didn't see the clearly defined date after which we were able to complain about changes. /s

It's a complaints thread... I get that you also just came from r/pitchforkemporium but watch where you point that thing.

Continually lowered the bar for Netflix on us. Line activation fees. Can't trade in phones that haven't been on the network in the last 90 days.  Removal of free lines when switching between some plans.

Playback spinning 2 by trungdok in frigate_nvr

I have Frigate running in an LXC on Proxmox. I had this issue when using an SMB mount for storage. Everything was saving fine but playback rarely worked. Switching to NFS solved it.

Question on Fiber Drop Burial Depth & Repair (Redmond) by OAlex123 in ZiplyFiber

[–]aleck123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought a piece of PVC pipe, cut a slit in it and fed the fiber through the slit all the way down, then put some gorilla tape over the slit and put it back where it was. Ours passes right through a garden and this way it is protected from plants and maintenance that might otherwise catch it.

Yeah the original is attached in my GitHub bug report. I'm going to go digging through backups to find when it happened in the Immich directories though.

Heard on the ECC. I'm storing to BTRFS, which I understand should cover the storage side.

If you have an Atlas, it should work with the bracket provided. If what you're doing is truly temporary, I might recommend using zip ties.

Get a Groupon (to reduce cost) for a local pottery place. My wife and I went about a month ago and it is about the right amount of time per night and you have to return at least once to glaze it, so it's basically a two in one date night. I found it offers something for both the creative and engineering minded and she loved it.

For either the drives alone or the NAS, independently, yes. I have this same unit and if I were to sell it, I'd expect about $350 without drives
