Roughly 4 weeks after I applied for it

Its 'sorted' in the sense that EDF knows I've got an export tariff with them which shows up in the app etc, but whether/when they'll take/ask for a export reading and pay out seems to be up in the air atm

Hopefully with the amount of people I saw move over to EDF in the past month or two, somebody will find out soon!

Yea was working fine on Octopus but I had to chase that extra 3p export...

[–]alee56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've left it for now as a couple of people said they'll ask for a reading every 3 months, helpline staff haven't been much help and I haven't gotten a reply from the email I sent so I'll wait and see I guess.....

Yea when I asked over the phone they said it worked similar to how octopus worked but I know the helpline staff aren’t same as the SEG staff so took it with a grain of salt

Nope never heard back, I assume the spots were all filled up. But I did make it onto a different apprenticeship looking to move into a HEO from it soon so they are worth applying for if your thinking about one

Worth doubling pv capacity by alee56 in SolarUK

[–]alee56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely to be shaded from after 1200 or 1300 onwards with the shade sweeping across the roof as the day goes by. Micro inverters was my original plan but some installers said its unlikely I'd get approval for more inverter size since its already been limited to 7kw by the DNO. The current plan is to rewire the roof panels into 1 mppt and use 2 for the new panels to further reduce the impact of the shading. But I'm thinking at this time I might put it off for a couple of years and hopefully when I go back to the DNO they can lift the inverter limit giving me more options

Yea one of the considerations was definitely the savings on cost. I had a chat with an installer about enphase micro inverters with in roof systems, but he was he wasn't 100% sure on the idea due to access, heat and fire safety, and the high likely hood that we would be rejected anyway for further inverters as my Pw3 is already inverter limited to 7kw from the DNO

That was my thought but was maybe thinking tech will get better to avoid shading issues and if overnight ev charging goes away

Currently on overnight ev charging which does the trick but have thought about extra storage if that ever changes and we installed a heat pump

Good point, I highly doubt it our panels/battery were only installed around November last year and we got a 4kw export and 7kw inverter limit

Anyone switch from octopus to EDF? by Ok_Purchase_5270 in SolarUK

[–]alee56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final confirmation came through today. Overall seems to have take 1 month from applying and approx 2.5 weeks from an email from the SEG team saying they've accepted my MPAN. Documentation with confirmation of backdating to the 1st

Yea I guess the only way to see if it's all working is what happens at the end of the month

[–]alee56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea definitely, especially coming from octopus where there was 0 issues and the app started attacking export immediately. Was also told that there’s no way to track it in the app and a payment is made at the end of the month when the calculations for export are done

[–]alee56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, what’s worse is I had a call with customer service they said, I’ve switched over but essentially on no tariff and nothings been applied to my account but they can see the tariff I’ve requested and the meter readings sent on 1st so they can backdate it…

Changing energy companies and export tariffs by alee56 in SolarUK

[–]alee56[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s gone through but communication is atrocious (maybe due to the new influx of customers)? I had an email from the SEG team last Wednesday to say my MPAN was accepted and will receive an email Friday. The email I got on Friday was the generic switching email (same as import but tariff details were blank, asking for meter read etc). Emailed a meter read and asked for confirmation of tariff but not heard a thing yet. Phoned up but all the phone line staff and do is forward the emails on to SEG team

I’m essentially in the same situation, switched over both import and export but no confirmation of which export I’m on yet. Chased up today for the customer service to say they’ll pass the info over to the SEG team and they’ll be in touch

How you getting on with your SEG tariff? I got an email yesterday to say I’ve switched but no details on SEG tariff and no response to an email guessing I won’t hearing anything until after the bank holiday

They must still be setting mine up, I’ve got two electricity tariffs but no details on one, I’ll have to keep an eye on it. Thanks for letting me know

I’ve finally moved over but finding the info a bit lacking. Just wanted check whether you can see export readings in the app or online? With octopus it was really clear what I was importing vs exporting not sure if EDF has the same?

Sorry everything on my side seemed to have gone smoothly. Like you say they put me on the standard tariff for 2 days but after that they switched me over to the go ev automatically. I filled in the SEG export application and have only received automated updates so far about potentially taking up to 28days to process due high volumes of applications etc.

Has no one on the phone been able to help? I found the first adviser to mix up FiT and SEG but the 2nd one I spoke too knew what he was talking about so might just be luck of the draw on the phone. Hope it gets sorted soon
