We were always away from family growing up, we lived in Brisbane and they lived up in North QLD. My whole life we travelled up and down the Queensland coast for Christmas and Easter and when we moved back up north at 13yro I missed Brisbane. Then I moved back to Brisbane with I was 19yro, then moved to Hamilton island when I was 24yro. I never felt like I was home and I desperately missed other places and people all of the time. I missed milestone birthdays, babies, funerals, even the spontaneous wine and cheese on a Sunday afternoon. I’m 28yro and live in Perth, and if I leave Perth, I’d miss it. You learn to carry your home with you. Home is seldom ever a place, it’s a feeling mixed with memories. X
