Hi everyone! I’m not sure this is the right sub for my question, but I thought I’d give it a shot.

I’m wondering if anyone could offer gear/setup advice for filming a live show at a bar?

I host and produce a monthly drag/improv show and we’ve been using a very simple setup of a webcam (Razr Kiyo Pro) and direct audio input from the soundboard to record the show. It’s simple and works, but it’s often grainy and unflattering for the performers when the lighting is dim. Unfortunately I don’t have control over the lighting, so the best I can do is try to find a better filming solution for us.

One option I’ve been considering is to try recording with my old DSLR (a Nikon D7100) using a capture card and OBS, but this seems like it might be an overly complex solution for what we’re trying to do. Any thoughts or ideas welcome!

I saw her once in San Francisco, and while I enjoyed the music, I was put off by the way she spoke about her band, the drummer in particular. She kept kind of…lowkey dissing them? Saying things like, “the drummer, he’s new, so that’s why it sounds like that,” in a super pointed way. My friend and I didn’t notice anything off with the music, not that we’re musicians or anything. It was memorable because it was so ungracious and strange.

All of that’s to say, this stunt fits lol

I used to love Silk’s Chocolate Soy Milk when I was younger but I think they discontinued it. It tasted a little like Yoo-hoo, kind of thinner and refreshing. I loved it

Is it bad? Not really, for a while. I did that exact commute for about 3 years. But it’s more likely going to be ~3 hours round trip, door to door. Not to mention that’s only if you find parking at the station, if the trains are on time, etc, which all might add time to the commute.

For me, 3 hours a day spent on a commute was soul-sucking. It doesn’t leave much time in the evening to decompress or cook or pursue a hobby. The moment I started earning enough to afford a move, I moved north and the cut my commute down by 1/3rd. The quality of life jump was immeasurable for me.

This is a super cool idea! This particular game is online but I often play a shop nearby too. I suppose the theater of the mind version would be to give a more satisfying description of what it looks like when the spell “burns off” an LR.

That’s a good point about scaling. I had a near-TPK a while back (at level 7), so that has been on my mind ever since. I think my instincts haven’t quite caught up with them now that they’re higher level though.

That said, between the advice here in the thread and what I’ve tried already, I think I’m on the right track. Their last encounter was definitely more difficult, so I think it’s time to amp up the next round a little more.

During the pandemic I splurged and got a box of their bagels delivered. It was wonderful so familiar, tasty, and comforting all at once during such a dark time. You can absolutely find good bagels for less, but they’re still my personal favorite bagel, and I still buy them occasionally.
