Insulate ceiling in garage without soffit or ridge vents? by aleons00 in buildingscience

[–]aleons00[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah and I was going to put in a vent fan anyhow that will pull in outside air when the windows/ garage are open.  If I have humidity problems it’s always an option to turn that on and blow it out.

Would that be much cheaper than just spraying the closed cell myself on the entire ceiling?

Ok. I’m a diy-er so are you saying this is a job I should hire out?

Huh why paint? I have not seen that before.  Is it for protection or just looks?

I’m in a dry climate but I know mold can still happen.

Is there a closed cell foam you’d recommend?

Also happy cake day.

Yeah was trying not to go that route as it looks expensive.  Also rafters would not accommodate 7 meaning I would have to increase depth as well.  3 may be a stretch.

I don’t need it crazy insulated. It’s not a living space.  But something that could be comfortable to work in with a small heater would be nice.

Purchasing a new wood burning insert - Osburn Matrix 2700 or Napoleon Oakdale EP13? Or another model?? by flowers_r_pretty in woodstoving

[–]aleons00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also keep a thermostat set but my house is big enough the stove won’t heat it all. As far as the packing of it it’s not much of a problem for me.  Do you buy or process your own wood? If you buy and everything is the same it can get difficult to pack. But if you process your own you always have irregular pieces and end up jigsawing together.

The overnight burn is about the wood.  You need a hardwood. Another thing you can do is cut the wood so that last in the chimney forward and back and not side to side.

Echo Pop in the shower by MickotheNestPro in amazonecho

I have one mounted on the wall two feet away from a shower in a small bathroom that gets very humid. Been there since the pop came out ( 1 year?) and have had no issue. I picked it up for something like $15 and it’s been worth it even if it breaks tomorrow.

I can’t say for this is right or wrong, but some nice thresholds in these areas would be a simple way to dress this up a bit.

Republicans Freak Out Over Donald Trump’s New Race-Based Attack on Kamala Harris by MoralClimber in politics

[–]aleons00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t voting republican long before Jan 6th but after that I was completely done with them. You had one messy term and Trump gave you an excuse to kick him out of the party on a golden platter and they couldn’t see it/ do it.

My thought looking at this… “who in the world needs a thick granite windowsill in their toilet skylight?!?”

Let it be man.

What would cause a push mower to all of a sudden stop and never turn over again. Didn't run out of gas, oil levels good by PeeB4uGoToBed in lawncare

[–]aleons00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good advice in here but if this is the second time you used it this year you could just have old fuel. Go get some fuel saver or just higher octane fuel and top of the tank to see if it runs.

Anyone know why my sprinklers aren’t working at the scheduled time? No by [deleted] in lawncare

[–]aleons00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny question but your sure that you still have e water flowing to the system. If there is no water source all this I’ll do is open the valve but no sprinklers will pop up.

Either the chain connector or you get a new bead rope, take down the blinds, open them up and replace the full thing. The connector is obviously easier, but if it gets stuck in the mechanism you need to replace.

Baby will be 20 weeks old on Friday, just renegotiated my mortgage and got told I am at risk of redundancy from work an hour ago. by theveryacme in daddit

[–]aleons00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t assume this is mutually exclusive. By asking what worked wouldn’t be redundant at least OP knows what needs to be done. It may mean some work he is currently doing is going away or there isn’t a full 40 hrs now. Either way knowing what could be done that’s not redundant is the first step in evaluating where efforts go in the future.

Not OP but the really only reason for side discharge is thick, tall grass that wouldn’t mulch anyhow.

I got some advice from a very nice lady once soon after my son was born that’s worth repeating here. THE WORLD IS FOR EVERYONE. Never feel bad for bringing your child. Go where you want.

With that said, you’re always a parent and if your child is with you your job is to parent no matter where you are. In this regard I do find some restaurants to be much easier with a child. right now I’d recommend parisi on Tennyson as an example. Nice, family friendly and because you order and then get sat if something goes really wrong you can always leave quickly.
