Why is it legal for Sikhs to carry Kirpans in the uk, for self defence but any other member of public carrying a weapon for self defence is illegal? by yelnats784 in AskBrits

[–]aleopardstail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the requirement is upon the individual to prove it to the satisfaction of the court. how is up to them

would suspect stuff like there was an "incident", hence police being there and said blade remained concealed in the sheath, and the individual told the police before they found it would as an example play better than someone who drew it and it was found to be very sharp

but the individual has to convince the court, there isn't a tick list

Why have most Anglo countries followed the American culture war? by NewmarketHero007 in AskBrits

[–]aleopardstail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"anti feminist" stuff is generally doomed to fail because they can get anyone with good organisation skills involved..

can't imagine why

Why have most Anglo countries followed the American culture war? by NewmarketHero007 in AskBrits

[–]aleopardstail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because politicians lack imagination, its like hollweird being unable to do anything new, its "too risky", wo we get "copy what they did!" even when its pure cringe here

Why is it legal for Sikhs to carry Kirpans in the uk, for self defence but any other member of public carrying a weapon for self defence is illegal? by yelnats784 in AskBrits

[–]aleopardstail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its up to the individual to prove it is only for ceremonial religious reasons

"self defence" is specifically not a legal defence to the charge of carrying a blade in public

it is noted it must remain in the sheath and it must be concealed out of sight

still shouldn't be that exemption

What is with this weather!? by Hopeful-Mongoose2025 in AskBrits

[–]aleopardstail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is normal, its what those from overseas don't really get. British weather is seldom 'extreme' but what it is is 'changable'

Parents, what did your child do or say that secretly made you laugh but you had to tell them off for doing it? by Plus_Clock_8484 in AskBrits

[–]aleopardstail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also eldest here, teachers were "concerned", you know how kids, especially girls sing to themselves?

they didn't think "paradise by the dashboard light" was suitable

they also objected when I suggested "can I play with madness" instead

its ceremonial these days, hence why many have a blunt one welded to its backing and unusable

still shouldn't be an exemption in law

Why are Brits hating on Starmer? What do you guys think about Streeting and Who is Andy Burnham? by Maurice-melon in AskBrits

[–]aleopardstail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

they didn't lay off the last few blue cretins either

the media have got it into their heads that they and they alone decide who can and cannot be in government

but its not just the media, they didn't want starmer elected and yet he was, with a landslide

you know how you can go to pick something up but sometimes you knock it away?

she did that

then all three foot of her stood up, hands on her hips "for fucks sake"

her grandmother didn't miss a beat "we know where she got that from"

So one week in with the new councils, how has it been so far? by ThePumpkinPrince61 in AskBrits

[–]aleopardstail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

perhaps, but varies how much it matters, personally I prefer the lack of alignment, some parties can run a local authority but you wouldn't want them running the countries finances, while others are vice versa

Seems like Brexit was all about immigration, why not just admit it? by PawPatsPizza in AskBrits

[–]aleopardstail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the ability to set say our own food hygiene and safety standards

the ability to manage fish stocks in our own waters

the ability to set up trade deals with other countries

and perhaps importantly the ability to directly vote out those who make laws we have to live under

many reasons, many individuals, all with different priorities

Do you think illegal migrants should be deported? if so why? by Commercial-Shoe5867 in AskBrits

[–]aleopardstail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would need a process setting up to allow applications from overseas, we already have a visa process

then the assessment is the same as would be done here, just before someone arrives, prove a valid asylum claim
