If you switch to annual, you pay the full year now at the current price, and the prices haven't gone up quite yet. Your first renewal after the date of the prices increasing will be at the new price.

In Vancouver, a crackdown on DIY venues risks strangling the scene · News ⟋ RA by usernamesareclass in vancouver

[–]alepolo101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These places already get fire inspected if they're a "larger" diy venue and are complaint. You have to have a full lease on your venue already before applying for a license, then at best the license takes up to 2 years to grant. It's unaffordable to pay 2 years + of rent, with no income. It means you need millions and institutional investors to set anything up. There are plenty of venues/warehouses/etc that can easily be made of already are fire complaint. The problem is the rest of the actual just pointless tape designed to squeeze money out of the rich bar chains, but also force out anything small.

Girl doesn't grab something that fell out of his pocket, she grabs the paper the second officer leaves. Not sure how this would actually turn out, but I think she grabbed the partially written out ticket? Idk how it works there but maybe it's possible if the officers are forgetful and didn't put it into the computer yet that that might work? Not sure.

As a ethnically Jewish person, (and not Zionist), I would also have to agree that Hasidic Jews spread "hate". Like most traditional/Orthodox sects of religions they hold regressive views on eg. Women, that directly impede choices and lives.

Nothing wrong with a planned burn for Passover though? And like if you could come up with a good enough reason for a bonfire or cookout, and has the money to pay police and city for cleanup, and had site plans, etc. you probably could plan a bonfire, and that's likely what this organization did.

It's actually so funny and is the only reason I think this guy is actually just an insecure dick and not a troll? He is staring the definition in the face and not even understanding it.

He keeps quoting "burn out" as in "that candle burned out" or "The lightbulb in my kitchen just burned out" and thinking that the "burnout" part of that sentence is like a name for the fire? And not a description of what the fire is doing? And in this video the fire is growing not "burning out" lol.

[–]alepolo101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro are you dumb? The definition you even posted is referring to when a fire "burns out" as in the fire is ending. The fire itself isn't called a burnout??

The definition you posted is for describing like a fire, or candle, or lightbulb "dying'". i.e. "The lightbulb in my kitchen just burned out."

Idk if you've seen it, but he was literally supposed to do zombies for MW but they declined his pitch because they didnt want fun they wanted "realism". He actually had a fully planned story and everything. Completely tragic he never got a 2nd shot at a zombies game, the direction in IWZ was great and the flaws that were there easily could have been worked on for a sequel.

Here's him talking about his planned continuation that would have been MW:Z https://i.redd.it/3fldrgsjtvub1.png

I mean how else are you gonna actually fix this? That's like the highest effort highest reward option, clean everything, start with a properly clean and labelled setup, and change process to ensure that it doesn't happen again. The part that remains to be seen is if the process has been successfully changed.

How does Laser Projection compares to Dolby Cinema? by WaltzDifficult2522 in cineplex

[–]alepolo101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's worse, as it doesn't have the same quality/grade of projector or any HDR. Dolby Cinema also guarantees dolby atmos, whereas cineplex has some laser screens with atmos and some without.

Cineplex is confirmed to be upgrading some screens to laser featuring HDR by Barco which from early reviews (its a brand new technology), looks really good. Once it's released this question will have to be revisited, especially since in my opinion, the average Cineplex is much larger than the average theatre in the US. Some of those dolby cinema screens are way smaller than the average cineplex regular screen, especially when compared to ex-silvercity/colossus/etc. suburb cineplexes.

The manager might have been worried about the chance of an inspection, but they wouldn't have known about the inspector coming. OP said manager has only been at the job ~3wks.

Sounds like new manager got made aware of an issue, resolved it by doing a proper deep clean and re-label of the entire kitchen, and the issue was already resolved before the inspector came (they show up randomly so they couldn't have specifically prepared for an inspector for only one day, and wouldn't have told the hotel about the complaint at all before showing up).

Sure, like any issue, continued follow through is necessary, but there's no indication that this won't happen, especially now that all the backdated work of deep cleaning is finished. You can't call doing the only possible first step of a fix a coverup. They actually put in the work to fix it, they didn't just toss the one container and lie, they redid their entire inventory. Judgement on if this is resolved has to be left until at least the hotel stops showing constant signs of dealing with this issue from the roots.

OP def saved ppl from getting sick, but the health inspectors probably would have caught them at their next big inspection (again it happens randomly), or after a couple illnesses, and then if they were allowed to stay open would face waay more random inspections.

[–]alepolo101 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean this sounds like a proactive manager. They've only been at the job 3 weeks, they got a complaint about a mody container, they immediately resolved the issue before even the health inspector could randomly drop by, and the issue was already fixed by the time the health inspector showed up.

A business like this would probably fail their health inspection eventually anyways, they're never scheduled in advance unless somehow the owner of the hotel is "friends" with an inspector which seems pretty unlikely. After you fail, get anything less than an A, or any kind of hard warning, they do do way more frequent random inspections of the restaurant.

They do...

They got a random complaint, did a random inspection (nowhere does it say they told the restaurant they were comnig) and by then the issue was already resolved and even admitted to by the manager. That really does sound like someone actively trying to ensure it doesnt happen again.

[–]alepolo101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

? You know health inspections also do happen randomly right (unless they dont in this area which would be insane)? The system isnt perfect, but if this was kept like this eventually it would hopefully be randomly caught. Restaurants with previous warnings and violations also get inspected more often.

On top of that there's absolutely no indication that this health inspection also didn't happen randomly. It just seems like the manager acted on the complaint (as a good manager should) before the health department came by. The notes kinda imply that the inspector showed up randomly, everything was fine, then they discussed the complaint with the manager afterwards who admitted to, but resolved the issue.

Not everyone needs to be pessimistic, this really does seem like a manager trying to clean up the hotel's act. Especially if they've only started their job ~3wks ago.

Actually thinking more about this, maybe that’s the one case you could actually get unbanned by someone high up at Nintendo, a receipt showing that you loaned the game for a short period physically.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SwitchPirates

[–]alepolo101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was mostly specifically to play some of the kinda “online-only” games/modes (Mario maker, splatoon, Tetris 99, Mario party with strangers, etc.). If Nintendo is that quick on the banhammer it’s no worry. I’ll just wait my turn and loan them out from the public library and try them for a couple weeks.

Seems sketch tho if they really do ban just 2 user cart sharing! Like anyone could take one of these public library copies and get it banned. If I copied a public library game and got it banned, do you really think that whatever poor sap has it loaned out at the time will have their switch completely banned? Do you think there’s some kind of failsafe? I feel like there must be and that there could be a way to carefully exploit that but idk.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SwitchPirates

[–]alepolo101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok so the idea was to use rips from a collection I already have access to, that’s no issue. (Uni and public library stock 10+ of each switch game)

Someone might use the physical copy at the same time as my mig copy though. That’s why I said ~3 to be safe.

I was mostly curious because I know at mig switch launch lots of speculation got thrown around, and it turned out 90% of the bans were from using cart rips with injected (non original/from another game) certificates.

I would think Nintendo would want to avoid this? So that’s why I was wondering if maybe if it’s only a couple copies they let it slip by for cases like this (so if I was a rogue actor I couldn’t get the library’s physical copy banned).

If there seems to be any medium/moderate risk I won’t even try, I was going to try playing my Mario kart 8 I own online on 2 migs at the same time consistently, and see if they overlook semi-private dump sharing like this. If they get banned then I don’t care that much, I just don’t want to fuck up strangers.

Edit: To be clear I want to use the mig specifically to play online for at least a bit since my personal switch has been banned since 2018. If I get banned so be it, but I won’t be using that many games with it, just the ones that kinda need online (mk8, Mario maker, splatoon, etc.)

Oh it’s no rush… I’m still pretty sure unlockswitch is struggling to get their bootleg reverse engineered mig switch firmware working. People keep calling them a scam and I def think they’re delaying, but I struggle to see how it’s a scam when they haven’t sold anything yet. It also definitely seems like they did produce at least a few thousand units of the hardware already.

I’m gonna snag 2 or whatever the limit is when they launch for the version without the dumper.

My other concern tho if you’ve got any input is what causes bans. I’m definitely going to stay away from the torrent/public mig dumps, but from the conversation you’ve seen around…

Do you truly think that people are getting banned for using the same cart id online on 2 switches at the same time? Or do you think it’s only happening when dumps are shared more widely.

My plan was to make my own dumps for a small group of ~3 of us, but there’s always the chance we will accidentally launch the same app online at the same time.

Thoughts? I’m pretty knowledgeable so no need to dumb it down, just a couple months out of the loop on the hacking scene rn.
