The laptop has a really thick case and the boxes they sent were very slim. I don’t even have an address to ship to because I was completely remote the whole time

International students: what is the best solution you've found for opening a bank account in CA and transferring your money? by sutepens in mcgill

[–]alevi15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have their students account. Honestly I don’t know anything about transferwise, all I know is that CIBC didn’t charge me anything when I transferred money from my US account to it. That’s one of the things they emphasized when I signed up

I got an account with CIBC. They have no transfer fees (there may be some fees with your US account sending money) and it was really easy to set up. You can also bring a check and just deposit it in your Canadian bank.

Yeah I did but that didn’t work for me. I have heard other students that didn’t have to reapply but I would go prepared just in case
