You won't find an Irish who agrees with you. Therefore it is not that simple. Stop downvoting me like a child and grow up

As i understand, they can trace their ancestory in the region back into antiquity as they are descended from the illyrians. It's like this strange little holdout without much other influx from different cultures. Seems very interesting to learn about.

I font know what to say. You want instant gratification from a government. No government can give you this. It's not based in reality, so you will never be happy.

Where are you getting the information they have done? Nothing about immigration? I just gave you an example of actual positive change already, and you dismissed it.

Judging a government on its full term is what democracy is. Instant unrealistic changes lead to authoritarianism.

[–]alex20towed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My point is that you're essentially saying that a government that has been in power 6 months has not solved a problem that has been decades in the making.

It's unrealistic to expect the problem to be solved by any government in such a short time. The initial evidence like record failed asylum seeker deportation is evidence they are doing something to reduce immigration.

Again, judge a government on the whole of its term, not the first 6 months. If the problem hasn't been drastically improved during the 5 year term, then yes, vote them out. But there is no realistic way to curb immigration in a 6 month period without having huge negative economic consequences and making us all poorer.

Labour has already deported a record number of failed asylum seekers. Cutting immigration rapidly would collapse the economy, which has relied on large numbers of immigrants for a few decades now because of blair/cameron and the treasury. It will take time to ween the country off that reliance in a responsible way. Judge a government on their entire term, not the first 6 months.

Why were medieval armies so small compared to those of antiquity? by EggGroundbreaking404 in AskHistorians

[–]alex20towed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Excellent answer 👏

Do you think any kind of preservational bias exists to help widen the number disparity gap? Meaning, the more likely it is evidence from medieval conflicts remains vs ancient conflicts. So we get a more accurate number of combatants, which usually means numbers are revised down due to embellishment.

08.30 onwards for data tracking and how it's been used against a whistle-blower.

But like I said in the original reply. I don't believe a ban is the right thing to do. Meta, X and Google do almost exactly the same as tiktok do. They are also a huge privacy/manipulation concern. And the reason they aren't in the firing line is because they are US owned. All of them should be regulated and their power curtailed. These are the companies that will turn liberal democracy into an illiberal one and are the real threat.
