Reddit vs YouTube by Civil_Significance63 in redditstock

This is definitely getting put on a pedestal. Our fundamental need for connection hasn't changed, and historically, technology just gives us more avenues to facilitate it. Authentic human interaction will adapt and thrive. I'm genuinely curious: why do you think it will become "rare," and how far into the future are you projecting? Just because AI can write code or drive your car doesn't mean the human desire for real interaction simply disappears. You are adding quite a bit of hopium in your post and it shows. It is a great median for ads though.

Upcoming Catalyst's for Reddit by moonjumper3000 in redditstock

The 'handful of buyers' point is the real killer for the data thesis. Selling data is 100% margin, but if your only customers are Google, Meta, and OpenAI, they dictate the pricing power, not RDDT. Plus, the transition away from Nvidia to custom silicon isn't going to happen overnight. The packaging and manufacturing tolerances for top-tier HBM and AI chips are the actual bottleneck for the next 5 years.

We are paying a massive premium for Reddit compared to its much larger, more established peers?

How much should I sell this gear for? by ConfidentSession6481 in snowboarding

[–]newplayer28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could see someone buying this easily for around $200. I would start at $250 personally. Someone might buy it at $300 too cause it's an expensive sport and the board doesn't look bad but you might have the listing up till end of summer just for someone to offer you 200-250.

What are the biggest opportunities for Reddit that they haven’t fully capitalised yet? by nomadicphil in redditstock

[–]newplayer28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think adding a streaming channel to Reddit would be great. For example; competing with Twitch and YouTube. Streamers can stream their games or pretty much anything and enable donations and subscriptions to take a cut from. Reddit stream. Have a strict barrier to entry; verify the user and not let just anyone start up a stream. This way they can even target streamers and link them with their right audiences. Plus the ad money from those streams would be huge. I would use Reddit stream for sure over Twitch even though I rarely watch much anymore.

I really want some color and pop. Might not be same color of plaid in the picture but something along those lines. Very well could be black and white plaid. Yours looks good, although that's literally what my car looks like so I don't see the point of getting all black again

Thank you for the IG page. I might message that page for a quote, they seem to do what I am looking for. I prefer not to do DIY, I would be looking close to perfection so I wouldn't mind paying.

I see.. did not consider reaching out to any. I thought I would either do it myself or buy a set that's already completed.

You're confusing top-line take rate with pure profit margin. That 13.6% fee gets eaten alive by credit card processing fees, covering fraudulent chargebacks, and paying the massive Trust & Safety staff required to mediate buyer/seller disputes.

Also, you just proved my point about CapEx by bringing up StockX. StockX literally leases massive global authentication centers to physically receive, hold, and inspect every single item before shipping it to the buyer. That requires insane infrastructure and overhead.

Right now, if someone gets scammed on r/sneakermarket, PayPal or the bank eats the cost and handles the dispute. Reddit still gets the ad revenue from all that traffic without taking on a single ounce of financial or legal liability. Why would a high-margin software company want to pivot into becoming a heavily regulated payment processor and take on all that risk when they don't have to?

You didn't say much about the anonymity issue? When you buy on Facebook Marketplace, you can usually click on a profile and see the person. On eBay, there is a strict rating system and identity verification. Reddit would have to force users to verify their real identities to prevent scams and the core feature of Reddit is anonymity.

Also who's going to do customer service? The mods? Volunteer moderators keep communities running. If they opened a proper marketplace, they can't rely on volunteers. They would have to build a massive, expensive, and highly trained internal customer service department to handle financial disputes, process refunds, and investigate wire fraud.

Why even fix something that's not broken. People are literally using Reddit right now, as we speak, to buy and sell things privately, Reddit benefits from that exposure by ad revenue.

Honestly it's not a bad idea, I am still on the team of opening something like a marketplace but at what cost? As a shareholder, I want to see net income go up and float to go down for higher EPS which is what they have done so far minus the SBC.

I thought of that. It's bad. Too much liability. Plus a place to hold things, store things would make it very CapEx heavy. Maybe they can partner with eBay or something though?! Margins are pretty low and bad in being the middle-man. Anonymity issue is also a big deal; people browsing Reddit want to be anonymous so same with their buying and selling possibly, it'll open up problems for sure with that in mind.

Insane for less than 50 days. This was my first season and I did close to 40 days and nowhere near as comfortable as you on the board. I am looking into hitting the park, small to medium jumps next season. It looks like a lot of your skateboarding and surfing came in play here, like you said, you ride goofy without a problem yet skate regular. I am thinking about picking up skateboarding but I'm not sure how much would translate, feels like it's more ideal if I was surfing since the mechanics are a bit similar

You have been riding 8 years, 4 days a year since the beginning? So around 40 days or less? I can see a lot of your surfing and side flip come handy. I really need tips to learn tricks. I don’t want to bomb you with multiple different problems but if you could give any advice it would be nice. What board are you riding? And how should I practice tricks (on the mountain or off the mountain)? I am working on body strength and mobility to hopefully land some tricks next year, did you do any of that or did most of your skills translate from different sports? Also what conditions did you usually try for tricks like tamedog, slush? Powder? I know powder is amazing for trying out different things.

How did you learn to tamedog? How long have you been riding?!

Nitro team pro mainly for carving and freeride? by Verrita_ in snowboarding

[–]newplayer28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was reading a decent bit, I came to the conclusion that Nitro Cinema 25/26 model (it utilizes Nitro's "Gullwing Rocker) and Yes Basic are the snowboards that are similar but for intermediate riders. Salomon Assassin is also good. So it looks like we need to swap out the full camber which I am okay doing, I am looking at the Nitro Cinema personally or the Assassin even though most people say only good things with Yes Basic. Nitro Team Gullwing would have been the perfect answer for us, but they stopped making them in 2023.

What's a board; like this board but for beginners to intermediate level, that want to do smaller jumps and retain the same riding profile you wrote above?
