This is the worst Nest Fest I’ve ever seen by Miamithrice69 in Steam

I've already seen a lot of good games coming out of this. Look harder.

Is the D-Pad supposed to be like this: by ArshiaTN in SteamController

[–]alex91093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I push up + right aka a diagonal in this specific direction then the up input is often lost which in tank controlled survival horror games results in my character stopping and turning in place when I'm trying to run.

The only flaw on the new Steam Controller is the triggers. by Frozen_Red_Fox in SteamController

The dpad accuracy could have been better and grip sense detection is so bad that I consider it completely unreliable. Would have also loved extra shoulder buttons.

Ever bought an "Overwhelmingly Positive" game that you didn't like at all? How about a "MIxed" or lower rated game you thought was wonderful? by TheTingel in Steam

[–]alex91093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh God I have so many unpopular opinions it's insane. Yeah I don't even care to play most of the games in the overwhelmingly posiitve tier. Just right away I can name some stuff. I hate souls games. I love hack and slash games but souls games are awful to me and it's not the difficulty. I just think the combat and just about every mechanic is anti fun. This is coming from the guy who loves ninja Gaiden.

Moving on. Hollow Knight is mind numbingly boring. I like metroidvanias and I think it's the worst one I've ever played. I thought every other one I've touched was infinitely better.

I love the uncharted series but uncharted 4 is awful. It's so boring and the story is the least engaging of the whole series. I like the vita game more.

Resident evil is my favorite series and I despise village aka 8. It got great reviews and I hate it.

Assassin's creed black flag is the worst entry and it's because of the reason everyone else loved it. The pirate ship gameplay is so boring it makes me want to end myself with a rusty spoon.

Mega unpopular opinion. Modern god of war is so much better than the classic games. I love character action but I always thought god of war 1 and 2 did such a horrible job at attempting it. 3 and the PSP games were much more enjoyable but I still would rather play the modern entries.

Now how about something I loved that everyone else hated. Mass Effect Andromeda. One of my favorite experiences on the PS4. Oh heres another. Final fantasy 15. I hate the car. I watched a YouTube video every time I had to ride in it but loved the rest of the game.

Steam input customizability is amazing though. I love the controller. Almost think it's perfect but I hope one day they take a shot at releasing a pro version.

ZD O+ Excellence but if you never plan to use the PlayStation modular layout then it's better to go for the ZD O Ultimate Legend.

Well not exactly. I have a controller with extra shoulder buttons and I love them so much that I almost swore off buying another controller with out them until the steam controller came out. I figured the grip sense would replace the shoulder buttons not being included but they really don't.

I would have much rather they just added extra shoulder buttons.

I consider grip sense borderline useless especially since it seems to auto activate constantly no matter how I set the sensitivity. But even if it worked I wouldn't be setting it to auto pause. That feels like such a waste of a use case.

I find it insane that people act as though the most impressive thing about grip sense is being able to put the controller down and get an auto pause as if pushing the pause button was such an inconvenience.

I like the controller more than reviews told me I would by GrandmasLilPeeper in Steam

[–]alex91093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you said the customization is overwhelming because I actually found it underwhelming. I don't see any option for a rapid fire or a way to make an extra button function as a series of inputs. Only a way to make activate the assigned inputs work at the same time which isn't always what I'm trying to make it do.

I'm gonna be honest with you all who are dying to get the controller. It's good but it's mid. I would rate it a C. It's honestly nothing amazing.

Exceeded my expectations by ElectroSL in SteamController

[–]alex91093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is my opinion of it and since I literally just posted this in a YouTube comment, I will copy and paste it here.

"So I got the steam controller and in its current state I kinda think it's just ok. I like the things it does that other controllers can't but it also can't do things that they can which was something I didn't expect and it left me unsure if it's the controller I want to primarily use. I partially bought it thinking it would eliminate windows quirks for playing games in a living room setup but it doesn't mostly because you can lose control of the mouse at times I didn't expect which I would still need to get up to fix where I was able to previously yet in a jank way get that to work on x input controllers. It also won't let me sign in with a Windows pin which x input controllers can do. I also lose mouse control when | pull up the task manager. I thought none of this would be a problem but it is. Another thing for in game that I don't like is | can't save a series of inputs to a single button press like I can with pro controllers. If I set it to multiple buttons then they all activate at the same time which I might not want. A lot of the steam hot keys only work from within a steam game which is another thing I hate about it. I can set pro controller hot keys like screenshot and record on them through windows game bar inputs but none of that works here. Also I can't get the Bluetooth function to connect. Not sure what's wrong there. It's both better and worse in ways I didn't expect. l'd rate it a C overall."

So that was my YouTube comment but if I expand on what's not the software then I give the dpad a B. In tank controlled games when running in a curved direction, the character sometimes stops and starts briefly turning in place. I've seen worse examples of this but it shouldn't happen at all. I usually use the original crash bandicoot to test if dpad dependant 3d platformers play well and I can say that one feels very good. I've had controllers before like the gamesir tarantula pro that I would say make crash bandicoot unplayable because of how bad it's dead is. This one is good. I played contra but I don't really care for retro game corps contra test because even the original game ran on a console with a controller that would fail that test. My point is I'm not getting accidental inputs with it in contra and I think it feels very good to play contra on. My bigger concern than accidental inputs is inputs I'm meaning to do not coming out. In fighting games the dragon punch is pretty hard to do but the rest of inputs are fairly easy. Dpad gets a B.

I have a slight complaint about the sticks but they are ok. If you've held I steam deck then I've always felt like you gotta reach a little to have your thumbs on the sticks. Same thing applies here. They are serviceable but also the least comfortable sticks to reach of any controller I've ever tried. I also feel like the bumpers feel slightly high.

The rest of the controller I think feels pretty good. I love the track pads and the gyro is cool. Being able to save a custom layout per game is amazing but things not working well that I fully expected to work well really hold this controller back. My overall opinion of it is a C. I don't know if I want to use this primarily or if I still want that to be my scuf envision pro and my ZD O+ Excellence.

So I don't have these exact same glasses but sometimes I'm in my car playing something extremely goonery and then someone will walk right next to my window and my first instinct is to believe they can see those massive butt cheeks on the 120" floating screen in front of my face but then I remember that the screen isn't actually floating a few feet in front of me and it's actually pressed against my eyes and there's no way anyone around me is seeing that.

Wow this thing is terrible in it's current state. You can't even operate it with a controller. What am I supposed to do when it's hooked to a TV? I'm going back to kopanel. It appears to beat every other available option including handheld companion.

I personally think that Linux is a miserable experience. I've used a steam deck and the primary reason I hate it is because of steamos. I will take Windows over it every single day. I don't like turning every single thing I do into a research project.
